Intake AIr Flap Question

Hello,
I recently noticed that the intake air flap on my machine is not closing at all. I was wondering if this is a problem if the ECM is not reporting an error or idiot light. However, the service manual says the flap should be closed up 4500 rpm. I recently installed a two brothers exhaust on my cycle and did not know if the mapping that was installed for the new exhaust maybe causing the issue. I've talked to my local 675 shop who also did the mapping for the new exhaust and they seem to feel that if the ECM is not complaining then no worries. However, I just does not seem right to me. I tested the vacuum hosing and actuator to the flap and I can close the flap when I apply a vacuum. I replaced the vacuum solenoid for the actuator and still the sucker will not close. Any info, insight, and help with this question would be appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

If you have the race can map installed, the flap opens at something like 900 rpm. The bike idles above 900 rpm, so the flap never closes. It isn't an issue.

You know, my flap does not close either... even when the bike is off. I posed this question a while back but could never get a straight answer. 7000 miles have elapsed and nothing bad has happened yet so I am not too worried about it. Would like to find out what the deal is though...

The flap is there for sound emissions reasons, or so I understand. I have been thinking about removing the whole assembly, but haven't got around to it yet.
