The new Ohlins rear shock and the GP Suspension forks, coupled with some new sticky slicks allowed me to shave 3 seconds off my times from last October. All of this was accomplished on the first track day of the season without having to work hard at it.

It is simply amazing what a high quality suspension can do for the feel of the bike. It made the times seem very relaxed.

I'm hopeful I'll have a couple of action shots to post up once the Mid-West Photog gets his pics uploaded to the web...

Sunday was an absolutely awesome day at the track. The weather was perfect - upper 60's, sunny all day and very little breeze.

Here's a little preview from the mid-west NESBA Photog - Matt Granzow...

It was great to be back on the track and the new bike performed great...

It is beautiful! I sure miss the 675 on the track. The Gixxer is a wallowing pig by comparison, and I am having a heck of a time adjusting. The adjustment to a different bike is costing about five seconds a lap right now.

And it sure is tough to wait for the next track outing! It will be mid-June for me, since I have to do some non-motorcycle stuff for a while.

Nope, I'm not back on track until the next Putnam Park date on June 14th & 15th. I shot my track day budget for long distance travel when I bought the dedicated track bike this year...

I hear you on the track budget...this stuff gets expensive quick. I was asking because my 675 will be making its track debut this (under my ownership) this weekend, thought it might be fun to chase you around

What a gorgeous bike! In all likelihood I will never race a bike or do a track day. I'm living vicariously through your experiences. Thanks for sharing!

Thanks for the compliments... It's certainly been a labor of love coupled with a touch of insanity...

I just reread the thread and second the comments about high quality suspension. My Gixxer has a Penske and well built forks, but they aren't set up quite right, and they have two race seasons on them. They are OK for a novice season, but they make riding the bike an adventure in guessing what it might do next. A friend who is racing his 675 this season dumped some huge amount into the bike. It has lots of engine mods already, but it also has a full Ohlins suspension, including forks. He got the top of the line stuff, so he probably has more in his suspension than I paid for my whole race bike including spares! You get what you pay for- he is a lot faster and more comfortable at the speeds than I am. He passes me with traction to spare while I am bumping all over the place just hanging on for dear life.
