Note to Self

GoofOff ruins the Triumph windshield plastic. I was taking the leftover adhesive from a manufacturer sticker off my windshield and it started disintegrating before my eyes. Quite amazing. Be careful with that stuff. I, of course then sanded it a bit to smooth it out...damage done. Just ordered another...yikes that piece of plastic is expensive. I still wonder why I was never asked to join MENSA...

British Customs has a shield that is less expensive, but I hear it's a bit different at the very front tip. The tip on the stock is finished and extends over the edge of the front grill. I hear the one from BC isn't finished very well at the tip, but otherwise it's identical. I figure my bike has less that 400 miles on it...I may as well just get the exact one i just retardedly ruined, so I ordered the exact from BikeBandit. Nice margin they're making on that piece of plastic....

...that said, are there a lot of aftermarket parts like this out there? I wouldn't even know where to begin.

The aftermarket is supporting the 675 far beeter than any other Triumph in history. There are plenty of options for screens...

Powerbronze
Zero Gravity
Puig

etc...

Sorry about your situation...

I used a light amount of GooGone and had no problem.

mnotae, I'm 99% certain that will polish out & even you will hardly be able to see it. I used some cleaning solution to loosen the bugs on my screen & promptly forgot that I'd applied it. That cleaner made the screen all dull & streaked. I couldn't obtain the perspex/plexiglass polish that I thought was needed, so I just used the polishing cream that I normally use on my paintwork. It worked a treat . Polishing's got to be worth a try, hasn't it?

I'll give it a whirl. Thanks. I actually have the new shield on now...so I haven't messed with the old one. I'll see if toothpaste or polishing cream work. I'm sure I'll have use for a back-up in the near future...

Well, neither the toothpaste or the polish worked. I think a did a real number on it with the goof-off. The new shield is on... at least I now have a nicely scratched back-up in case I crack my current running over a Harley...
