Ive nearly bought one...

Hi
I currently own a speed four and am looking at possibly moving on so i hope people might be ble to give me some advice. I am 6'2, 13 stone, i do a commute of about 15-20 miles (sometimes in the car but im looking to make it a more regular bike journey) noramlly mostly a/b roads without too much congestiion and also some fun at the weekend, the odd trip of say 50 miles but no real long tours as such.

If i by the 2006 D675 I have my eye on will I

a) love it, make my commute more regular and longer if possible!
b) love it but look like a giant on what is a small bike
c) like it at the weekend but find the bike very aggresive for commuting, better for track rather than road

answers on a post card please!

a) yes you will love it and your commutes will get longer.
b) who cares what you look like! You don't have to look at yourself when you are riding.
c) yep, it is a far better track bike than commuter. But, you can commute on it and have a lot of fun commuting. You will just find yourself doing track days. Don't say you weren't warned!

How's that for dodging the answers?

I would agree 100% with Will. You will love the bike and the improvement in power over the Speed Four will be very noticable. If you are looking for the most comfortable bike to commute on, this is definately not it. THat said, I have ridden mine on trips of over 500 miles in a day with no problem. After all, about every 150 miles you have to stop for fuel, so you get a stretch break at pretty good intervals.

If you buy one, be ready to become a track addict... Oh, and get a second job now to afford the new habit. Tires and track time are not cheap!

If you are looking for a comfortable commuter that is also fairly capable on the twisty roads, have a look at a Sprint ST.

I actually much prefer sportier positions (ew er) than the sit up and beg, unlike most I chnaged my speed four from renthals back to clip-ons. I guess what i'm more worried about is that it wont be a power on/power off completley track set up bike (like for example ive heard aboout some of the Zx6r's) If it is just a case that it is aggressive and after a while your wrists ache I think i can put up with that!

I should hoepfully fit in a test ride soon!

Is anyone here over 6'?

I'm 6ft even and went from an 03 S4 to an 07 675. I find the 675 is MORE comfortable, especially on longer rides. I was also really annoyed with the S4's jerky behavior at low speeds when riding around town, but that has evaporated with the smooth pull of the 675.

Prepare to ask yourself, "Why didn't I upgrade sooner?!?"

wow! test drove one today and I LIKE! THat engine is so smooooth and so powerful!

Im getting one i just need to get the right deal now. As for fit it is heavy on the wrists but i think i can cope and it is less cramped than the S4.
