quit.
So i've been riding my 675 for a week now and everything is running super smooth. Pulled into a parking lot to meet my buddy for a lunch ride and shut it off (with the key). Went to start it up again and all I got is a loud "click" from somewhere under the seat. I was able to get the bike to fire by pushing it down hill and dropping the clutch in 2nd gear but then waiting at the bottom of the hill for the light to change, the low fuel light first came on and then started to blink slowly at me. Strange because I just filled up the tank last night. Traffic light turned green and the bike quit when I tried to give it gas. Couldnt get it to turn over. Pushed it into a parking lot and called for a ride home.

Any thoughts?

Are you sure you didn't use the kill switch? I just had a recall on my '07 675 to replace all the ignition wiring. They said that if I used the kill switch, there's a good chance that the bike won't start back up again. Not sure how far those electronics reach in the ignition process, but just a thought for you.

I got pretty nervous and figured my bike would have to be in the shop for a while to get all sorts of electrical components replaced.

Of course putting in a new battery fixed everything. I keep forgetting that the bike battery is not nearly as robust as my boat battery which sits just fine for quite a while without ever being trickle charged. oops. lesson learned.

So while my bike is at the shop awaiting a new rectifier, which is presumably on the slow boat from England, I rode with my roommate to the Ducati dealership in NH (BCM if anyone is familiar with the Laconia area) so he could check out the new 848. Boy did I feel like the poor guy hanging out with high society. I borrowed my buddy's 2004 zx 6r with plastic that has more cracks than a plumber's convention. Some guy tried to sell me his 2007 1098 S for a mere $18k (only about 9000 pounds!). Good deal he said. Then I showed him what I was riding. He laughed. Sigh, I miss my 675...

Not an encouraging episode. Keep us posted. I'm running out to put the Tender back on right now.

One new rectifier and I'm back on the road. All covered by warranty. An annoying couple of weeks waiting for parts. The grey beards around work started spewing horror stories about Lucifer Electronics from back in the day. It's sunny again, game on!

Thanks for the update. I'm glad things were taken care of in a decent amount of time. Happy Trails!
