any 675 riders coming from a S4?

I like my s4, but when I go out riding and see those new 675s I get a slight tingle inside.
anyone sell their s4 and moved on to a 675?

can you post your likes / dislikes / experiences?

I don't know about and S4, but there are a few of us who had TT600s. So, take away the plastic, and most of these same comments apply.

The 675 is a whole lot more extreme than a TT600 in all ways. It handles like a razor blade in comparison and the ergos are much more track oriented. The only place a 675 is more comfortable is peg location. My knees last longer on the 675 because the pegs are farther from the seat. They are just as high, but the seat is higher on a 675. The bars are lower and a bit farther away. The 675 has power out the kazoo by comparison, and the power is everywhere. Once an S4 or TT600 is properly set up, the throttle response is very good, so a 675 isn't hugely different. There is still some minor FI snatch sometimes, but it isn't much and is limited to some small opening, low rev circumstances.

As a commuter, the TT600 was a better bike. It was more comfortable and the riding position was more upright. As a sportbike, the 675 spanks just about everything in its class. Ironically enough, I bought a 2004 GSXR 600 to use as a race/track bike because I like my 675 so much. The 675 is a better bike in nearly all ways on the track, and a GSXR would be a slightly better street bike, but Suzukis are disposable, and the world weeps if you pitch a Triumph down the track. As I did once. Damage is nearly all repaired, and the few things I haven't fixed are just because I haven't got around to them yet.

Speaking of pitching it down the track, both my TT600 and 675 went down on the track. Both survived without major damage, although I tossed the 675 at a much higher speed. The TT600 was a bumper magnet on the street. I got hit once on the freeway, and the bike got hit numerous times while parked. It survived all of them, and kept coming back for more after I fixed the broken bits.

Which one is better for you really depends on what you plan to do with it. If you are looking for a track/ sport bike, then go with the 675. If you plan to use it as a commuter or sport-touring bike, stick with your S4, unless you are some kind of freak who thinks race rep ergos are comfortable. I am one of those freaks, so consider my opinons with that in mind.

Let's see, what else- service intervals are pretty much the same, gas mileage is very similar, they both use 120/180 tires, so from a maintenance standpoint, there isn't much difference. Checking the oil is a pain on each- a dipstick isn't as nice as a sight glass like Suzuki uses. But it isn't a big deal once you figure it out. Ventura makes racks for both, so you can carry about the same load of stuff on each, if you plan to use the bike for longer distances. I would expect 675 insurance to be a bit more than S4 insurance, because the squid population is beginning to figure out how good they are. The good part about squids crashing is parts availability. The aftermarkets is supporting the 675 in a way it never supported four cylinder Triumphs, and squids are making used parts more available than they ever were for my TT600 or your S4.

I hope that long winded mess helps.

My first bike was an S4. Loved it. It did everything I could want in a bike. I commuted on it but toured on it too. I then ended up having a very expensive 24K service and the dealer did a deal on a 675. It was the height of the summer and it just seemed like the best idea. I love my 675. Its an absolute thrill. I did for a while use it as harshly as my S4 parked on the street, used everyday to commute and through all weather. Now I own a thruxton to use everyday in the city and I love it to bits and have the 675 kept in a safer covered place.
My pillions said they thought the 675 was as comfortable as being on the S4 because they preferred the position. I had hi bars on my S4 so getting used to the wrist strain was a bit of getting used to but no bother. The 675 obviously gets you into trouble a whole lot quicker than the S4 but has fantasic brakes. I thought the S4 brakes were fantastic too. I say, if youve been having the urge do it. I still wish I had my S4. It was a fantastic bike and some days I feel like I wish I'd have kept it. But when you fire up the 675 all is forgotten and you smile from ear to ear.

I'm spot on with Treehugger with one exception. S4 was my first street bike, traded up when I got to an expensive dealer maintenance issue, and have never looked back. Gone is the jerky throttle at low RPMs. I think about turning and before I know it, the 675 is carving it out perfectly. I am actually MORE comfortable on the 675 than I was on the S4. Less vibration over the long haul.

So where I differ with Treehugger: I live in Vermont, so I'm getting maybe six months a year of riding time. It's parked in my garage when it's pouring or snowing, but I ride the thing as much as possible. This year I plan on being out there even more.

My only regret about the upgrade is that I wish I had completed it sooner.
