You could do any of the above. If you get rid of the valve, you will have to remap the bike, but I am not sure what map you would want to use. I am thinking seriously of replacing the entire assembly with a piece of straight tubing on my bike, because I think the catalyst is burned and causing backpressure problems or the exhaust valve is screwed up in some way. It isn't causing an engine light, but I was down about 10mph at the top end last time I had it on the track.
