Locktite on stator

I just replaced the stator cover with a Woodcraft cover, and the only screws I locktited were the ones holding the stainless skid plate on. I reread the instructions after reassembling the whole thing, and it says I should have locktitied all the internal screws using red locktite. Has anybody replaced a stator cover and can you tell me how critical it is to have used locktite? I have a feeling I will be taking it all apart again.

Red seems a little heavy as it non-removable. If properly torqued, I can't see using any, or at most blue.

My thoughts too, especially since the screws came right out of the old stator cover without a problem. There seems to have been some machining flash inside the screw holes in the Woodcraft cover, so it isn't like the screws are likely to back out anyway. But, I would sure like to have some feedback from somebody who has had the stator apart and put a number of miles on it after putting it back together.

There are a lot of other little maintenance items I need to deal with anyway. The grip came off the throttle tube during an especially rainy stretch, and I made a mess gluing it back on. Now the throttle is all sticky, so it needs to be taken apart and cleaned up. Greasing the cable probably wouldn't hurt. It is endless. Good thing it is fun.

Will,

While I don't have any miles on mine since the installation, I did follow the directions and apply Red Locktite to all internal screws. Since it is a dedicated track bike, I didn't want things working loose at 150 mph.

If I were you, I would disassemble it and apply the Red Locktite per the directions since I know you will be traveling at those speeds as well...

Of course this is JMHO.

By the way, all you have to do to remove a Red Locktited fastener is add a little heat...

Jeff

Yep, I came to the same conclusion. I ordered another gasket today so I can take it apart again. Oh, well. It is good practice.
