Possibly a new Daytona 1055???
I have recently heard from a man at the local Triumph dealership that in a year or two, Triumph will be releasing a new version of the Daytona 675, but with a 1055 cc motor. If you've heard anything on this please let me know. I'm a fairly large guy and would love to have a sport bike that would fit me. Any info, images.....anything will help. Thanks, James

While I had a 955i and love liter size bikes, I don't know if I'd go that route even if Triumph does decide to build it. I really enjoy the 675 and for the riding I do, I don't know if I'd really need the extra20 or 30 ponies. Triumph has waited too long on replacing the big one for me to be interested at this point. Now, if it packs 160rwhp, hmmm..............

Daytona 1075 ????
Yeah that is a tough call , I sometimes miss the power of my old CBR900RR , especially at speed , but part of the "magic" of the 675 is the rideability , and the overall balance of the engine with the machine , a light bike with lots of power is fun at times , but can be too twitchy (ie:Yamaha R1) , not fun in a deep corner , the 675 is always smooth , and feels planted to the road at all times , be it tight slow cornering or long sweepers at well above the "suggested" speed limit , by suggested I mean legal , I guess we will have to wait and see , or just have one of each ...........

I hope it is more built with the same ideas of the 675 in line (all sportbike and not the heavier part triumph hasn't really been bothered by very much on there sportbikes in the past). Also I would hope for an improvement in horsepower to put them my 955i is about 150rwhp stock while the Japanese bikes are abouve that mark. (I moght want to take my next bike out to the track a little bit more)

Not going to happen!
I don't see it happening. For a triple to play on the same field as the in-line-four-cylinder literbikes, it would have to be bigger displacement (as is the 675 relative to it's 600cc competition), and I don't think that the current extra 50cc would generate anywhere near the extra power the triple would need to be in the same league, unless Triumph's been holding back... and that would be hurtful! After having it's clock cleaned by Japan, Inc. when it entered the fray with the Daytona 955i, I would think Triumph would only attempt such a venture with a whole new bike: frame, motor, etc. just as they did with the 675. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big fan of the 955i 'Tona (in fact my brother has an '04 SE, and it's beautiful!), but I appreciate it for what it is and the niche it inhabits: a unique literbike for the real world; not a track weapon. But a 1050 Daytona would inevitably face comparisons with it's 1000cc brethren, and the results would be hideous. With the current Ninja 1K churning out 190hp, even a warmed-over 1050 would be hopelessly outperformed, and then there's the potent new CBR, the almighty Gixxer, and the revised R1... all stellar performers, along with the Duc 1098, and the MV 1K, (also top performers), with a rumored new Aprillia Mille in the works. This is a high-profile class: it would be foolish for Triumph to pursue it with anything other than a clean-sheet, modern design. I think Triumph's leadership is astute enough to recognize that, and so, I'm done.
Cheers!

The 1050 should be able to be a sweet bike I really like the 675 now if they would make it in this 1055 we speak of that would be sweet, but I wouldn't buy one if they just put in the current 1050 st style motor in a lighter sportier bike that motor puts out less than 955i. If it is close to as sexy as the 675 with more power I think it on my purchase list for next year or the year after that if supply doesn't meet demand. I wont get to excited until I know it is coming out for sure and get to see it then ride it. What ever happend to that bike they were working on to compete with the busa and the zx14 I think it was called the Hurricane or something like that? Just curious wouldn't be on my to buy list.

I've got a Daytona 650 and the only thing that's stopping me from getting a 675 is the hope they've got a litre-bike styled like the 675 coming out next year.
I don't care if it hasn't quite got the ponies of the Japanese 1000cc bikes. I'm just keen for a bigger bike but love Triumphs too much to change brands (and I'm not really into the style of the 955i).
I wish Triumph could just say one way or the other if they've got a Daytona 1000cc+ on the way. I'd be first in line and if they did and if they weren't then I'd go get a 675.

If they build a big Daytona, it won't use the same 1055 motor they have now. It is a stroker motor, and won't rev high enough to make competitive power. Chances are it would be close to 1100, and it would be a lot more oversquare than the current motor. Triumph probably has something up their collective sleeves, and their secret skunk works is probably full of all kinds of interesting projects, so I wouldn't bet against anything.

Eaxctly my point! :\ I can't bet against it so I end up not doing anything. Bottom line is I want something that looks like the 675 with a capacity equal to or greater than 1000cc. If one doesn't show up in the 2009 models I'm going to kick myself for sticking with the 650 for another year and not getting a 675. If I DO buy myself a 675 and they come out with a litre bike in '09 I'm going to kick myself for not waiting.

Go ahead and buy that 675 you're lusting for! There's not enough grist in the rumor mill to suggest that Truimph will be releasing a bigger 'Tona next year: by now, there should've been chatter and somebody would've posted "spy shots" of a test mule of some sort; nothing's come up that I'm aware of. That said, I'm pretty sure there won't be a bigger brother to the 675 available for at least '09 (and maybe even '10?). If you want to keep riding your 650 'till 2011, then have at it. Personally, I'd buy the 675 and enjoy it for the next three seasons, then when the bigger version materializes, I'd either sell/trade in the 675 and get the bike of your dreams, or keep it and use it as an alternate ride (light & nimble vs. powerful & scary-fast?), or turn it into a track bike! Are you going to condemn yourself to perpetual limbo for a bike that you've never seen or know if it even exists? It's your choice, but I think your decision is pretty obvious...
Cheers!
