Ponder if you will....

If we can just calm down for a moment after seeing that stirring performance of Mr. McCoy (& not forgetting that two other Triumphs scored points as well)!....

Just to try and put this into some perspective, it is IMO a real achievement in World SuperSport to lap within two seconds of the Ten Kate Hondas. Some teams will not achieve this at all during the course of the season.

But to enter for the first time and challenge the Ten Kate & Yamaha Germany boys in the first season is, I'm sure, unprecedented. The two Triumph teams are already doing way better than anybody could have seriously hoped for. It is absolutely fantastic .

The best news about our little bikes at the race track is that they are very repsectable. I am glad there is some excitment about Triumph being in racing. Only positive things can happen from the racing involvement. Can't wait for the trickle down effect to get to a showroom near you!

While Triumph did finish farther back than position indicated, McCoy put on quite a show. Right now, Triumph has more points than Kawasaki and Suzuki in WSSB. Not a bad start. I figured if they came away with a few top ten finishes, it would be a productive year. Seems like the bikes are well set up and ridden. This is fun to watch now.

Hi, Just a blow in from the Sprint site but just had to post a comment. I was at the race at the weekend and couldn't believe how well McCoy and the 675 performed. Apparently the team was given a stock bike just 2 months ago, what a performance and what a year to come.
I have to admit that as an Ozzi and a Triumph rider I am possibly a little biased but lets just say go Troy, Stoner, McCoy, Vermullen, Mladen etc etc.
Cheers GavinB

Hey gavinb, You were there ! I guess you seen my all time favorite... Troy Bayliss.
I love watching him race. What's it like to see him ride in person ?

I understand McCoy was ripping it up in the corners until his tires went off, but he also had top end on everyone down the straights, too. Triumph must have found a new trick with the motor and unleashed a lurking beast in there.

McCoy rode that bike like it was on fire! What he did was remarkable in that he pulled back a 7 second gap to Foret who was 4th in the lead pack (1.2 secs to race leader) and at one stage McCoy was in 4th place in tight with the lead group and challenging for a podium position ( I was squealing too!!!). What made it even more special was how quickly he did it. At the mid point of the race he was in 6th (7 secs back) after starting 17th on the grid and within the space of 5 or so laps he was knocking on Forets door. It was hilarious to watch the Frenchman do a double take over his shoulder as McCoy was rapidly approaching (***!!!). When you think that it is difficult enough to take out tenths of a second per lap from the leaders to be competitive at the end he gobsmacked everyone by taking full seconds + over a string of laps and from memory he took 2 secs out on one lap. He's a great rider but you have to have a great bike to be able to do that too. Let's hope that they are consistent now and can string together some good results. If they do it's only a matter of time before there's a podium finish. Yeeeha!

The other guys did really well too, from memory 11 and 12 as well as 17th from a starting field of 30 odd bikes ...... impressive stuff

Hi Mossy21
Troy is fantastic to watch and the bike sounds soo much better than the high reving 4 cylinders. The sorry part is that it is the last time we are going to see him race in Australia as he is retiring at the end of the year. So if you get half a chance of going to one of the races this year you should jump at it, never know you may even see Garry on the podium with his 675, how good would that be?
