Accessories Question.

Ah winter. Time to stare at the motorcycle and think of things to do. Does anybody know if the Carbon Fiber Alt, Clutch and Crank covers by Triumph are a one time use thing? I know there are others made by Woodcraft ect.. Are these nice looking items removeable

Carbon fiber or hard plastic covers are a one crash deal. Unfortunately, I know this to be true. The Woodcraft covers are a whole lot more expensive but a whole lot more durable. They take the place of the stock covers. You can remove them, but why would you want to? Removing them means reinstalling the stock covers, and it is a process. The carbon or plastic covers are a whole lot more remove/reinstall friendly, but I don't see much reason to take them off unless they get damaged.

Thanks Will. I couldn't tell if these products, like Wood Craft and Triumph covers, were just attached to the OEM covers. If they replace the OE engine covers, that's a good deal.

I don't know about Triumph covers. I think they just fit over the stock eggshells. Woodcraft make a replacement cover with either a stainless or much thicker aluminum skid plate. The skid plate is replaceable in the event of a crash, unlike a one piece cover. Woodcraft is a complete replacement. The GB Racing covers I had are not a replacement cover, but rather a plastic skid plate over the stock eggshells. It held up fine, and the bike isn't leaking or using any oil (I check) any more. Go figure. I don't know what it was all about. I have to replace the assembly anyway, since the crash ground through the skid plate and into the OEM cover, but it sure is nice the bike decided to stop marking its spot. It is a Triumph, so it has a personality.
