Will,

The only thing that could get in the way of a trip to Miller would be super high gas prices... As soon as the track day calendars come out next year, we'll have to start looking at our schedules to see what we can arrange.

Brooksie,

I used to be an assistant principal at Taft Middle School in Crown Point, so I know that area of the state well. We have a family place in Elkhart also that we spend some time at. You are close to GingerMan and Grattan, so if you start doing track days, a damper would be in order.

Triple-I went to a track day last August at Ginger Man as an observer and really liked it. There was a Ducati club rally there and it was a real good time until the rain started. Nice track and good time. I think I would like to take a track riding class this comiing year and get into it. While I've been riding for many years, it never ceases to amaze me how little technique I have for track riding. Most of my skills are of the street survival mode. I had the chance to get really smooth with the 955 and could deal with about anything on that bike, so I'm sure the 675 will provide tons of confidence.

the pit bull damper comes highly recomended. I plan to get one next season if I can't make a mount for my huge ohlins. I would not lower the bike.

Thanks for the help. Do you guys think it is advisable to look in getting a steering dampner for hard street riding?

I have the GPR damper with a 20W fork oil (stock form was 40W and it was too stiff for the 675) and been happy with the set up.

Help me out here Adobo, I recently took my GPR damper off because is the 's-weave' and overall introduction of a lack of stability feeling it gave the bike, it was really causing me to dislike my D675. I looked up info from GPR and visited triumph675.net and heard about swapping out the fliud for a lighter weight and some reporting how they are now pleased.

I looked on GPR's website and looking at your damper, it looks the same as mine but their documentation states that they use 5wt silkolene fork oil in theirs and now you are stating that you have put 20wt fork oil in, am I missing something? I want to give it another go but need a bit of clarity.

Just to make sure I wasnt one of just a few, did you also experience somewhat like I described with the GPR with the original wt fork oil?

if your damper is making the bike unstable or weave its not functioning properly and you should send it to the manufacturer. the only way I can see the damper making the bike weave is if your fighting it. do your arms get tired while riding?

I did have the same problem as yours i.e. weaving, unstable, tracking etc. I called GPR twice and was told that i probably installed the damper incorrectly. After a few try with no difference in result, I demanded that they replace the oil with a lighter one.

I believe the GPR damper came with a 40w fork oil? I might be wrong but when I sent them my damper, I specifically asked them to replace the oil with 20W. Im not sure if they did in fact replaced it with a 20w but it made a substantial difference.

im on setting 1.5 to 2. on the street and also cured the problem the same as yours.
