675 Racing Parts.

While daydreaming through the Triumph accessories for this bike, I came upon the impressive list of racing only parts. Since I am buying the bike to do mostly shorter, intense rides and some track days, what kind of feedback do you folks have on what is most bang for the buck for performance improvement down the road?

I don't believe any of us have dug into the Triumph racing parts catalog yet. The bike is plenty fast straight out of the box for us mere mortals. Mine made about 108 horsepower on two different occasions, and it is more than enough to roast other 600s on the track. The first modification I did was get track plastic. Then I got an Elka shock and put on a Jardine can. The can is more for sound quality than anything else. The shock made a lot of difference. The OEM front pads were toast at 6K miles, and a set of Carbon Lorraine SBK3 pads are now shot at nearly 12K miles. The bike has GB Racing crash bungs and rear stand spools on it. I had the Triumph accessory spools on it before, but one got well mashed in my lowside. Bigger ones with a bit of protective capacity seemed like a good idea. The other crash related modifications are Vortex clip ons and a Kawasaki clutch lever (not because it is better, lighter or anything- it was available at the track). The mapping experiments I have made did nothing but reduce power, so I am back to using the Triumph off-road map, unmodified.

If you do dive into the racing parts catalog, I am sure we will all be interested in the results.

I am empressed with the stock bike. 108 hp!?!?! That'll be more than enough. I think I'll ride it stock for awhile. That Jardine can is pretty nice looking and the weight reduction is nice. Maybe a taller shield and some crash/stand bobbins would be a good place to start.

Augusta Triumph/Ducati has two Daytona 675 Triples that they raced in 2007. Steven Breckenridge was their expert and Jimmy Brown was their novice. They both won two championships each in the WERA North Florida region. I'm sure that they'd be happy to tell you what they've already dipped into from the catalog.
