Checking oil level

Recent press reports suggest Triumphs are very sensitive to oil level. Particularly 675s and Tigers
Triumph don't put a sight glass on many of their bikes. Plus the manual says the bike should be off the stand and on its wheels upright and level to check the oil accurately. Thing is how do you ensure the bike is level and upright when checking the oil?

Well I've come up with a solution. Buy a small spirit level. Like the type of thing that photographers use, and fix it to the instrument cluster or inside the fairing. Sorted! Now you can level the bike wherever you are to check your oil.

If you straddle the bike and hold still for a few seconds, your inner ear will tell you whether it is vertical pretty accurately, too. If it doesn't, you probably shouldn't be on a bike anyway!

No I dont have a 675. I just know from press reports over here that oil level is pretty critical on these and tigers so I thought I'd pass on my tip. Works realy wel and costs pence. Every time you check the oil you know your bike is level and the reading accurate.

It`s a pain to check the oil, especially if like me you suffer from...

1. Owning one of the random 675`s that absolutely DRINKS oil.

2. Being a shortarse who can only just touch the floor with his tip toes, which makes unscrewing the dipstick whilst you are sitting on the bike, very difficult.

3. Being a tightarse who won`t cough up for a paddock stand!

Bought the Pit Bull stand and am having the bobbins installed on the swing arm. I think it'll be a well invested $150.00 for the both of them.
