*Update* Final Track Days of the Year - Lowside Photos Added
Well, I decided that I would spend the entire upcoming weekend at Putnam Park before the weather in Indiana turns to crap for the winter...
Last time out I got some great tips from a control rider on body position and felt like I should spend one more attempt at getting used to the changes and getting them engrained in my muscle memory before the long winter layoff...
This will be the only time that I have ever spent two days in a row at the track except for when I went all the way down to Barber. I know from my experience there that my times dropped dramatically during the second day and I'm hopeful the same will happen next weekend at Putnam.
I've been pretty consistent at running in the low 1:20's and high 1:19's so this coming weekend the target is 1:18's by Sunday afternoon.
The guy on the 600RR that I rode with last time will be there and we plan to spend the weekend working together to get into the 1:18's together.
It should be a blast and should be a nice way to end the season!

Two in a row makes a huge difference. I was going to finish off the season with two in a row, except I went out with a bang! Oops. Have a great time and let us all know how it went.
I am still hoping we can meet up at a NESBA event at Miller next summer. My son's travel schedule for music won't be as extensive (ie expensive!), so I am hoping to be able to get to Utah. The van actually might make it!

sounds like a good way to end they year to me, luckily in texas I never have to. Good luck meeting your goal. I was going to do a 2 day trackday this weekend and then another at the same track but with a different company on monday. but instead I'll be sending the forks out to be rebuilt. they seem to be geting very temperature sensative in there old age (18,000 miles). and I cant get the sag right anyway.

You have 18K miles on a 675? Not too shabby! Any issues come up in those miles?

18K is impressive... I only have a little over 8K on mine. About 1/3 of those are on the track...
I think my forks will get done this winter along with a new rear shock/spring - Probably an Ohlins set up...
We'll, I'm off to the garage to do the track plastics dance... Gotta get her converted over for the weekend...

I have been very happy with the Elka shock I put on the bike. It was a little disconcerting to watch it in the back of the van next to a friend's 675. My bike just sat there and didn't move while his was bouncing all over the place. I was expecting it to be like riding a rock, but it was perfect. It just stuck. Now if I can get the front end as sorted as the rear is now, it will be the perfect bike.
Any thoughts about Miller next year?

Will,
I've considered the Elka option, but I've got a guy who is an Ohlins service guy and runs a Ducati Dealership in Indy who rides with us at the track. I think I may have him do the front forks this winter and may end up getting the rear shock through him as well. He is offering free assistance at the track with the entire setup throughout the whole season.
That kind of service might be worth the extra cost of the Ohlins system, but I haven't decided yet for sure...

It can't hurt to have personal attention like you can get. I don't have quite the same options, so I went with the Elka triple clicker. It is as good as anything I have ever experienced, but that isn't necessarily a whole lot. The forks are another issue- they are fine at my speed, but I don't know any better. Yet.
Money? What's money? Oh. You mean the stuff I spend on the bike?

Will,
It's only 870 miles to Miller with all the new parts in your van surely it could make it... and if it didn't you'd always have your bike in the back anyway.
I just heard that WSBK is coming to Miller next year, that's a road trip I'd concider.

So, you are in for a trackday at Miller, then?
