Fact is that I would count links for other people, because then I would have the information, too. I would hope that all of us would do that for each other here. That is the strength of this website. We all share our knowledge with each other, and when we don't have knowedge but can get it, we do. Fargin Bastiges also posts at Triumph675.net so I know that he is not spoofing us. He is actually quite knowledgable about race bikes and speed equipment, so he is an excellent addition to our collective pool of information.

And now, the answer that we have all been squabbling about-

For what its worth, you don't need to mark the chain. The master link is gold colored and all the other links are silver colored. I put the bike on its rear stand so I could just count and not have to think too much.

I guess that I should have mentioned that the owners manual generally lists the number of links. :-D Well, at least now we know! :wink:
