TRIUMPH WINS MASTERBIKE - JEREZ 2006
Hot on the heels of winning the Supertest in March 2006, the Daytona 675 has just scooped the prestigious Masterbike 2006 award for the best Supersport bike.
Taking place annually, Masterbike is an objective multi magazine track test for sports bikes, organized by Motociclismo, the best selling bike magazine in Spain. The Masterbike test is one of the most important and influential magazine tests due to its impartiality and fairness.
The bikes used in the test were selected by Motociclismo directly from manufacturer/dealer stock and then run in by the magazine, rather than using bikes drawn from the manufacturers' own press fleets. This ensured that the bikes being tested were truly representative of those a customer would buy from a dealership.
The test is split into three categories - Supersport, Superbike and Maxisport, and magazines from 17 countries around the globe send their fastest riders to test each bike. Every rider does three flying laps on each bike, of which their fastest lap is recorded. The score for each bike is then based upon a combination of the average fastest lap time, the bike each rider scored their fastest lap time on and a comprehensive survey based on each bike.
The Daytona 675 came top in each of the scoring categories! Triumph achieved the fastest average lap time and were over 0.5 second faster than the other contenders. The majority of the riders did their fastest lap on the Daytona 675 and the bike got the highest survey average, scoring an impressive 8.5 out of ten.
The top 3 in the Supersport category were:
1st: Triumph Daytona 675 81 points
2nd: Yamaha YZF R6R 47 points
3rd: Suzuki GSXR 600 35 points
