Well I'm back from an hours drive on the 675. And the weather was perfect
Well I think MCN was right when they said any deposit holder won't be disappointed, it's an absolutely cracking bike.
I don't know where to start.
The ride height IS taller than the 650, it wasn't just the show bike at the NEC. The bars are also a little lower, so there's a bit more weight on your wrists. My wrists did start to ache a little with the slow driving in traffic, but I get the same from the 650.
clocks are great, plenty of toys to play with, there's average MPG, current MPG, Journey time, clock, tops speed (might want to disable that  ) and a lap timer that monitors all those and more for up to 99 laps.
You've got a gear indicator too to remind you what gear you're in.
The bike was still quite tight with only 250 miles on the clock, so I'd expect it to loosen up quite a lot.
Onto the fun bit - The engine is fantastic! and the naughty people at Triumph have fitted the loud can on, so it sounds incredible. It would have been nice to know what it'll sound like stock but I sure wasn't complaining.
There's a huge amount of torque, and it revs smoothly and quickly.
When I moved from the TT to the 650 I felt almost slightly disappointed as it didn't really seem any faster. The 675 pulls a lot .. A LOT! harder than the 650. I'd say it pulls as hard from 7,000RPM as the 650 does at 10,000. So it's almost got 3000 more usable RPM .. that would mean the 650 would need to Rev to 17,000 RPM (I'm sure I've heard a figure like that somewhere  ) Oh and did I mention how good it sounds?
The gear changes were a little clunky but behaved themselves and like the 650 should ease out a bit after a couple of thousand miles.
It's geared similar to the ST so you've got a potential 70MPH in 1st gear, and pootling about at 30 in 1st doesn't seem odd at all.
Handling and brakes are as you'd expect spot on, and even though it seems quite hard it absorbed all the usual sunken drain covers with ease. Oh and did I mention how good it sounds?
It didn't seem to get hot, even stood in slow moving traffic the fan never came on, but it'll sure keep your legs warm as there's plenty of heat coming off it.
There is one thing that's bad .. well in fact almost useless - the mirrors. Ready for overtake .. check the right mirror .. yes my shoulder's still there it's safe to overtake :???: As it's so narrow you practically have to hang off the bike to see behind you. Admittedly I'm quite tall and broad, but I think it's something that everyone will have to get used to .. anyway who's ever going to be behind you :-D
So to sum it up, usable power from 3,000 upwards, huge amount of power from 6,000 onwards fantastic handling and brakes and an exhaust note that makes you want to just keep revving.
So I'm a very happy man

Good report mate.

Was that at Black Country? I would love to hear the race silencer. i went to Windy Corner today and listened to the stock exhaust. It sounds pretty good actually and I'd want to be sure that shelling out another £500 (silencer plus covers etc) is worth it.

Should have a test ride on Friday

Yes black country.
The silencer's really nice and you don't need all the carbon, so it'd just be £250.
Fantastic note and oddly almost silent on the run off so no need to grab the clutch when you see the police, just ease off the throttle. Practically no pops or burbles either.
I think I'll stick with the stock exhaust for now, but I really was tempted. It's loud but no where near as bad as the official pipe I had on my TT.

One thing I checked but forgot to mention earlier was nailing the throttle in top gear from about 40mph - it can still pull quite well, a lot faster than my 650.
I rode a mates R1 a few weeks back. It was an older 2000 model but I swear the 675 felt more powerful low down.

he he just had a quick look and the bike with all the carbon accessories, louder can, alarm, seats, custom gfx would be £9,000 :hammer:

stock silencer does sound nice, slightly deeper tone than the 600/650 stock silencers. Still waiting for our aftermarket silencer to turn up. Have just PDI'd our replacement demo (first one had unfortunate demise when a car uturned infront of it on Tues (not me riding it, other tech still in hospital tho )), have brought it home for weekend to put some miles on it. Gearbox is smooth as butter on this one, put it in 1st from neutral and no cluncking or chain grab as it goes in whatsoever :upthumb: going through the gears is very very smooth.

Hope he's ok!
Well at least he can claim to be one of the first people to write off a D675.
I should offer my services to run bikes in, it's about 18 miles to work from my house so it'd get a load of quick short runs with plenty of gear changing and time to cool off between runs
The best bit about the gearbox is the high gearing .. you only need 1st and 2nd for most riding and cruising in top at 60MPH it was reading 50MPG and that's before the engine's loosened up.

Ouch - sorry to hear anyone has had an accident. Car drivers don't clock anything smaller than cars - most of my left shoulder is now steel.

Ouch - sorry for all those on waiting lists who just saw their waiting time counter increase by one....

Arf Arf :-D

yeah i guess its all very well smaller profile but smaller profile means even less chace of being seen. today i saw a guy ride through town on what looked like a new 500 honda and he had made a huge front fairing attached to the handle bars that went from the headlight up to about shoulder hieght that was stripped neon red/orange and yellow. he looked like a moving road work lol that and his huge neon yellow rain jacket. guess he had a bad experience or lost a mate... hmmm

well the other problem with running in is that things like the brakes, suspension and engine won't have settled in at all. at 20 miles old he'd have had a problem braking or accelerating away from danger.
Well I hope he gets some good compensation from them. If it were me I'd use the money to go towards a 675. I've had two bikes written off by car drivers not paying attention and always put the money back into biking and carried on.
Anyway we should celebrate the fact that he's ok and morn the death of a 675
