Exchange rate isn't everything. The Daytona 650 has an "on the road price" of 6499 GBP, which equates to $11853. The US MSRP is $7999. Granted taxes are applied differently, but the pricing structure isn't simply applying the FX rates.
Let's hope so. Geez, anything over $8-8,500 would be suicide here.

My guess is it'll be $8499.

As BudGT points out, the UK price of the Daytona 650 is £6499; US price is $7999. UK price of the Daytona 675 is supposedly going to be £7000, so I'm assuming Triumph US will bump the price around $500. Okay, maybe it'll go up to $8699 or something, but Triumph isn't stupid, and they currently price their bikes fairly competitively.

Schmitty, don't worry -- cars and bikes are insanely more expensive in the UK than they are here, even if they're made there.

It is a tax issue. Britian suffers from VAT. We just have sales tax. We should count our blessings!

I agree it looks like a Japanese bike - but I guess Triumph want to be successful and this is the look that sells. However, this is a triple not a four, and has a British flag on it!! We all want Triumph to be triumphant and I think this bike follows on well from the new Sprint ST and Speed Triple. In fact I am so impressed I put a deposit down this morning and will be trading in my 20 year olf 955i (love it to death) in favour of this awe inspiring bike. You ask why not 750 - simple. In order for Triumph to race in the 600 class, they have to have a limit of 680cc - which they have. I guess we will see Triumph being aggressively competitive on the race track soon!!! Rock on Triumph!

Wow, that makes me feel much better. I didn't realize there were that many differences in how they price things across the pond. If the price is in the $8500 range I'll definitely be there to swipe one up. I hate to part with my TT, since it is the bike that got me hooked on Triumphs, but time marches on. I can't wait to hear that thing howl and scream :-D . Make mine Graphite silver .

Cheers,
Schmitty

Yep, I'll hate to see my Speed 4 go, but it's a little too much bike for my misses, so trade in time will be quickly approaching...

£7,000 to £7.200 in the UK = Approx $11,900 in the States. We also pay about $7 per gallon but I don't care - I want the D675!!!!

I showed the pics of the new 675 to the Misses and got the immediate response, "So where do I sit?" - I'll take that as a thumbs-up! :-D

Also, the local dealer had already taken 4 advance orders earlier today - given that the article only came out yesterday they were quite impressed and are expecting the 675's to fly out the showroom. All those were for Graphite as this colour will only account for 5% production - best to get in early if you want one that colour. Delivery was expected for March. Now, where did I put the number for the bank manager ... ?

I understand the rarety value of Grahite but was concerened about low light visibility. Graphite is undoubtedly cool but Red is more visble!!! Mind you my 955i is red so maybe I am bias!!!!

I've also got the thumbs up from the Mrs .. I thought I was going to keep the 650 till I ran it into the ground .. d amn you Triumph
Here's a few quotes for those that haven't got the mag yet -

"The verdict? With more than 120bhp at the back wheel wrapped up in the latest chassis technology and weighing a mere 155kg, the Daytona delivers a blend of performance and handling that really does set new standards in it's class"

"The first track test of the prototype 675 was at the same circuit in spane where we'd tested the muel. It's a track I know quite well so it was easy for me to get an accurate picture of how good the bike really is. By the end of the test we were three seconds off the world supersport lap record - and that was on standard road tyres."

"As we hurtle headlong through more open, sweeping A-roads, there's no question: Steve, John and I are straining every last fraction of performance from our bikes, but the 675 is just clearing off..."

"The Daytona is the embodyment of a group of people - engineers, testers, designers - being as excelent as they can be. It's more than just another motorbike. The purity of it's concept and execution mark it out as iconic"
