2009 Daytona 675 rider with problems :(

Just joined the site to get a few questions answered and see what people are doing to upgrade their Daytonas. I just put on the Jardine RT-1 on my bike and the check engine light came on. It's running rough too so I know i just need to remap it or tune it up orget a power commander or something. I'm kinda lost and don't want to take it to the dealer if I don't have to. Know what I mean?!

Welcome to the site! I'll move this over to 675-land so you can get the help your bike needs.

Hi mate, not familiar with your Exhaust, is it a full system or a end can? You will need at the very least to have a fuel map fitted to suit the can.
I would think that is the root cause of your problem. you can do it yourself with a laptop and a Power Commander 111, or go to the dealer and they will down load a map for you, they are not expensive, about £30 here in the UK I think, Or you can go down the road I went when I fitted a Zard low slung race exhaust, I had a Power Commander fitted with the Zard, also fitted a K&N race air filter, also had it custom mapped, the bike now puts out over 114bhp at the back wheel but the best bit is that all this has added a additional 8bhp at the back wheel in the mid range plus the throttle response is much crisper and not jerky at slow speeds.
hope this helps and I am sure you will get some more advice from other guys on here.
ps you can always have a look on the www.675.cc site they have a pretty good technical section on there.

I have a Jardine on my bike, and the can has absolutely zero effect on the way the bike runs, as long as you have the correct map in it. If you have the map meant for the stock system, it will be a bit lean, but the light will not come on. It sounds more like a vacuum hose off somewhere to me, or maybe a sensor either disconnected or malfunctioning. It's not the exhaust unless somebody did something really strange.

Go soothingly on the grease mud, as there lurks the skid demon.

I'm guessing it's probably the EXUP valve considering the bike is running rough.

The only way to tell for sure is to get the bike hooked up to a Tuneboy (or any other OBDII reader) to diagnose the fault code.

If you want to check out the EXUP anyway, here's a write up to show you how how to free a seized valve.

Thanks for the replies. I think I'm going to take it in to the dealer to have it checked out since it's still under warranty. Hopefully they don't bs me about having aftermarket exhaust and therefore the warranty is void. I'll post what it was when I found out, thanks for the help!
