bike wont crank!

just got done riding about 40 miles and didnt have any problems with the bike. its only got 1960 mi. I Stalled it out going up a ramp into the house and now it wont crank...it just clicks once after about 5 seconds and 10 pushes of the start button and then the gauges all reset like you just turned the key on. tried disconnecting the battery and checking the wires under the tank on the relay but nothing looked out of place or wrong. Any help in figuring this out would be appreciated and to try and avoid taking a day off work and driving 60 miles to the dealer.

Also, does anyone know if I have to get the engine remapped again since I removed the battery?

Chances are that you have a dead battery. Do you keep the bike on a battery tender when it is not being ridden? How long was it since your last ride?

These bikes have incredibly small batteries to save weight. The bikes charging system does not have enough power to charge a battery from a low charge. What typically has ended up happening is when a battery is low, the regulator/rectifier overheats and the battery doesn't get charged.

You would be well served to take the bike into your dealer and have them check the battery and the regulator/rectifier and then install and use a battery tender every time you are not on the bike.

Good luck getting it sorted...

It had been about a week since I had ridden it. I do not have a battery tender on the battery yet as I try to ride as often as possible but due to a rainy last few days, it had been sitting untouched. I tried charging the battery a little today but wasnt sure that was the issue cuz i figured it would still crank but just slower and weaker if the battery were dead. after a 5 min. charge she cranked right up and I rode for about an hour. I will have to take it to the dealer to get it checked out.

It's weird, but these bikes go from cranking, to not cranking... There is no in between...

Bike not starting

I bought two bonneville T100, had there 500 mile oil change and rode them home. I rode mine to work a couple of times and then the weather stopped me for about 3 days. Mine started running poorly then would not start only click. I put a trickle charge on it and tested it the next morning, nothing, just clicks. Also I now have a puddle of black black oil under the bike. The oil looks like it just came out of my old diesel truck. By the way my wifes bike which does not get rode much at all starts and runs great. Go figure!
