My new toy - hi everybody
Well, I finally bit the bullet and payed more than $300 for a bike. It took $40 worth of straps and 300 miles to get it, almost dropped it unloading off the truck, but here it is.
Last owner did some awful metal/rivet/bondo/glass/spray paint "body work" to the upper fairing, I fixed it the best I could (couple screws, bonding agents, die grinder) until I can get new parts. Also changed the oil, got a used mirror, and put in a shiney new battery. The clutch slips a little, theres some clip thats missing off the cable and you can't adjust the lever, currently has a hard time hitting 60 (haven't ridden it much due to this), but parts are on order and hopefully the clutch isn't fried (only has about 2500 miles on it, shouldn't be).
Anyway, this I guess doubles as my intro.
The pics are a week before I got it, the trip back, and after my budget fairing repair.
edit: Last pic was with cell phone, makes paint look bad like faded orange, its actually nice shiney red.

It sure sounds like the PO wasn't the right owner for it, but you are. Welcome to the true religion- really fast triples!

I gotta say, its just a sexy bike. It looks the business, it feels like your bigger than the bike, like a Buell, but with more go power, and better looks. Don't get me wrong, I like Buells, but they're not the best looking things around.
This has gotta be the loudest bike I've ever heard. Not so much the exhaust, though its loud for stock, but everything else; the blower whine sound, dont know what it is but sounds cool, the fuel pump, something that sounds like a printer, a couple soft beeps, the intake flat out howls. Its freakin great.
The $40+ oil change is new to me on a bike, and ordering parts is awful, but its not another gixxer so I can live with it (almost bought a 750, dealer kept changing price and armorall'd the tires, no thanks).
Quick question, maybe post this in tech later, but does anyone know what this "omega clip" thats supposed to be on my clutch cable does? Should be near or on the adjuster at the handle going by a parts diagram, but its missing and I can't adjust the cable. I was hoping this was why theres no adjustment, but now I find out the parts on backorder and no idea when it'll be in (advantage = gixxer).
btw, previous owner (original) was a chic, I'm gonna tell myself that she didn't do the lousy body work, and that shes smokin hot.

Took my first good ride today.
Somebody before me, while "repairing" the bike, managed to lose that bushing that goes with the bolt for the clutch lever pivot. This would explain why I couldn't get any freeplay adjustment (the lever slides before it rotates). I got the adjustment to where I can pull the lever and disengage the clutch, and, get this, when I let it out, it actually grabs now!! She'll sprint to 60 now (maybe a little further).
First thoughts: !@#$#^%$%&*^%&$#%#$&!!!!!!!!!!!!
She freakin screams like a banshee. I thought for a second the speedometer stopped working, then I let off a little, felt a bump and the numbers shot right up. I don't think I've ever ridden anything so controlled and collected, everything is straight up precision. No nasty surprises, no feeling of imminent death, instead I got a new found feeling of confidence and pride.
I won't compare this to my GS750, partly because of the 29 year gap in technology, but mostly because my GS was fun in much different ways.
edit: I learned what an omega clip is, apparently nothing to do with adjustment (it looked like it in the diagram). Then I saw a busa on the highway with a luggage rack/sissy bar hangin off it. The fact that its a busa, and that its got the rack were made up for by the chic riding it. Rockin body, nice tan, great butt, yep...
