Lovingly cleaned and polished and caressed my 04 955i and carefully put it away in the garage. Hopped off to find I hadn't put the side stand down.......... Mirror against the wall and very slowly but surely the bike and me were heading for the ground.

Suddenly I found one last superhuman effort and without breaking my ankle somehow managed to push up. The mirror wasn't even scratched as the wall had a wooden post exactly where I was going over. Have you had a closer near thing.

Well Richard - I see nobody is willing cop to doing what you did...and I'm sure many have.

I have done it - on a ZX10 - maneuvered it into the garage, got off and walked away....crach, bang, boom...forgot to put the sidestand down....oops! Thankfully not much damage.

The worst was when one of my bikes with a very tipsy centerstand got nudged - rolled forward and over to the right - causing a chain reaction with 2 other bikes all rumbling over on eachother. After a herculean effort I managed to get them all upright again - with very little damage. Amazingly the sidestand of one of them caught onto the bottom tube of another sort of holding them both up in the air - thanks to the motorcycle gods.

Oh yeah. I pulled into a gas station on my W650 one night and thought I had the side stand locked into position. As I started to get off the bike it started to go over. Lucky for me the bike is light and I was able to catch it in time before it hit the ground.
My friend pulled up with me one day and his side stand wasn't all the way down when he got off and his bike fell over.
I try to remind myself to always check the side stand and make sure it is locked down before I get off.
Sometimes we all have a brain that is somewhere else.

Well, I have a good one for you all.

Years ago, I was slowly riding my Kawasaki LT-1000 on a slope away from my residence when I leaned a little bit too much on the down hill side of the slope...

Despite my long legs, there was no stopping the momentum and the bike and I parted company.

Luckly for me the bike did not suffer any damage, however I had a wonderful time lifting the beast back to an upright position...

I was fortunate that my back did not get hurt!!!!

JReynolds, I had similar bikes. Had a '74 250 Pursang that was real nice, and a 75 Husky 250CR that was the best dirt bike I've had. Good memories. Oh, an I've never dropped a bike stopped. Many times moving, though!

I have gotten to used to pushing my bike around in the garage on its PITBULL swingarm stand. I had the bike outside to clean it in the nice sun light. When I got finished and went to push it back inside and DID NOT think of the small lip going into the garage to keep rain water out. If you can imagine what came next? That damned lip stopped the stand but not the bike and over we went. It was like a new break dancing move that has never been seen before. Thank god my neighbors were all in there houses at the time. I only broke my mirror support.
idiot :hammer:

A good friend of mine decided it was time to upgrade from his ZX6 and went to the local Ducati Dealer to check out a 748. Having not done his homework, he didn't know about the Ducati automatic kickstand and ultimately ended up paying for plastics on an entire row of brand new Ducatis. Needless to say he still has the ZX6.
