Lower Fairing Panel Cracks?

I have recently noticed that the fairing on my 06 tona has started to develop cracks, they are hairline only, but something is not right, the first appeared about a month ago from the bottom of the panel RHS going up to the bottom mounting screw, today I have found another further forward, I am going to take it back to the dealer to see what he thinks when time permits, I first thought maybe a bird strike could have been the cause, (the bike has never been dropped) but finding the second one today rules that out, seems possible that the fairing mounts are causing stress leading to cracking, thing is has anyone else come across this? The bike does get well used all year but also gets looked after and cleaned weekly which is when I found the damage.

I cracked mine at the very bottom last spring when I went a little too fast over an unusually large speed bump. I new it was happening as soon as the front tire came off the bump, and no amount of cringeing my face could stop it. I new what happened, and good thing I had a helmet on or some people may have seen me cry that day.:

I found a hairline crack at the mounting location on the lower left fairing as well. When I took it off to have a better look, two pieces fell off that were held on by the fastener.I called Triumph first to see if it would be covered under warranty which it eventually was. It was just a matter of taking it to the dealer so they could "verify" that it wasn't a tip over or something else that caused it. I have always kept it in showroom condition so no worries there.

thanks guys, sounds like we have all had similar problems, so this "fault" should be on the companies radar, hope to get it to the dealer so he can have a look next weekend, Thanks again.

OK so went to the dealer, they looked took pics, agreed the bike had not apparently been dropped at all, then on Tuesday got a call, as the bike is out of warranty they will do nothing, bike was two months over two years! and the crack appeared ages ago but I have just been too busy to get it to the shop. To say I am dissapointed is an understatement, I did not expect anything else really, Uk dealers are cr*p, but when its time to replace her I am going to BMW, shame really as I have bought two new Triumphs from them, but they are not now making a bike I want/fit I am assured BMW dealer service is the best.

I wouldn't give up that easy Doodle,Call Triumph direct and share your story with them. Its in their best interest to keep customers happy. Its what I did because I knew the dealer wouldnt "step up" for me and plead my case. They have seen this problem before and might be willing to at minimum meet you halfway.

I dont know mate, life's to short to get into a big discussion with these people, I work away all week and up till October am away at the weekends race marshaling, time is to valuable to waste on companies who should know how to look after customers, especially when buyers must be few and far between, or maybe they are so busy they can lose us and not worry, like I said I tend to change bikes every couple of years and have been waiting for triumph to make a new litre bike that is big enough for my 6'2" body, I was going to keep the Daytona till then, thing is I may now be tempted by the New BMW in the spring, a mate down the street just sold his tiger for the new 800GS and its a very nice machine, he also said the dealer could not be more helpfull and polite.

The BM dealer would want to be polite at the prices they charge! Actually thinking of going the same way though as it doesn't look like triumph is going to make an Adventure bike any more so the F800GS may replace my Tiger.

For those of us with no warrenty support and cracking plastic I can recommend a product called Plastex which is brilliant at repairing or reinforcing plastic. My old FJ vibrates like a jack hammer and the plastex has saved me hundreds in plastic welding fees

Thanks for that, I was wondering what to use to patch it up, want to avoid anything that will melt the Plastics.
