Daytona 1000

Hi everyone, I'm the proud owner of a 92 Daytona 1000. I've had this bike for 13 years & use it to get to work & weekend blasts. In July this year I took off around Scotland & did 1100 miles with camping gear in a long weekend, not bad for an old 'en eh?

Sounds good mate.

I'm looking at buying one of those.
Any major issues you've had since ownership?
Whats the performance like?

Daytona 1000

Hi mate, the only concerns I've had have been with the finish of some of the parts. The paint on the wheels wore through to the alloy a couple of years after I had got it, it was 3 years old by the time I bought it. I had them powder coated in blue, no way was I having them the original white, they never looked clean. The exhaust hangers & some other minor parts also lost all their finish & needed re-coating to keep her looking good. There have been no machanical problems she always starts 1st time.
As for the performance it's no super-sports but makes a good sports tourer/allrounder As it's a short stroke motor once you take it over 5k revs she's quickly over the ton and can stay there all day if you want too. I tend to keep to 80~90mph most of the time the seats comfortable and the tanks got a good range.
Does anyone know how many 1000's were built before Triumph changed to the 1200?

I've just brought a 91 Daytona 1000. Must be one of the first Hinckleys made. I believe some of them are 100 and some 120 hp, how do you tell what you have?
Mine has done 27k miles and I'm the 3rd owner, the guy I brought it off has owned it since 95 and brought it with him when he emigrated here to NZ some years back.
I'm looking forward to having a good look over it and riding.
He said he has replaced the ignition coil thingy twice in 15 years.
And some balance shafts at 22k miles, but thats it.

What tyres are you running on it?
Cheers.

Daytona 1000

Hi, i'm also the happy owner of a 1000/4 daytona, it's a red 1993 it's never let me down mechanically in the 7 years i've owned it other than the usual battery, elec problems, the machine has now covered 39000 miles and i'm sure it will cover the same again. (touch wood)

Hi everyone, cheers from sunny Portugal (check this weekend motorcycle at Faro -Algarve).
It's nice to know that there are fans of 1000's around the globe.I own a sprint 900 (93 with 91000Km !!!on the clock) a 93 Daytona 10000(57000 km) and a Bonneville T120 ( from 72 17000 Miles) . and that's all for the triumph family. Also some BSA Royal Enfield and one Jap (Ninja 600 R - 86) and Italian small ducati 350 (under Cagiva Brand) They all make me very happy but the Triumphs are my true passion
As for troubles I've recently replace the Sprint coils and thats about all, the rest is routine matainance

long life to you all and ride safe
