Looking at # 2 need help

Ok I am new to this side of the house. I took my Sprint In for warranty and saw this bike
Manufacturer Triumph Model Year 1997 Model Daytona T595 Price $5,850.00* Color Yellow Displacement 900 cc Miles 8863, I got to ride it and wow baby sings at 8000k. Is it a good deal, I know they are collectable

Sounds high to me, i would work on them a little bit. They are not what you would call a hot seller.

Baxter has always been on the high side of pricing even their classics are out of line. At that price you could find an 02 or newer. As for a 97, I'd look for at least a 99 or newer to avoid any early model problems, ie: electrical, sprag clutch come to mind and someone else could probably chime in, but wasn't there something with the early gearboxes? At any rate by 99 the Daytona was pretty much sorted and only got better after that. 5800.00 is way high though.

ps: a D1200 would be pretty awesome though

Heck look on cycle trader there is an 02 centenial edition for 4499.00 and they will ship it to you for 469. Still almost a grand cheaper than baxter and the 02 will have a lot more power. Heck at the same place there is a 98 for 3999.00, look around.

I can vouch for the '02 CE Daytona...great power and lots of fun to ride without many of the problems I've seen discussed on the forum. It never hurts to shop around.

jeffro, The '97 T595 is a 955 cc engine. The price is high even if the fourth gear problem has been fixed.

Way high, and those miles not even super low.
There was a 99 (much improved from 97!) with around 1Kmiles in San Fran dealer more than year ago at $5100 as I recall and they had installed brand new tires to replace the 'old' rubber.

That one worth $4500 tops in my estimation and I would still be concerned about the transmission, sprag, ground block issues that may occur.

DEcosse, I think I ran across that '99 (red?), very nice. The fourth gear was fixed in '98, if 57946 is indeed the majic engine number as my '98 is e/n is 62XXX. While mine has the improved earth block, I don't know if it was retro fitted.
