Well How do i tell if the clutch assy is bad #14 and I have engine #168145 but what if my gear is fine and I only need the clutch assy #14 and last but not least were can I find these for a good price I live on 11.50 an hour paying $450 is NOT something I can do!! I am able to install it my self that is no prob. at all. I know it says different engine # but alot of things work on both starter both work and that took me a week to find out.

Lambene, You'll have to take things apart (semi simple for '02> engines) to see what you need. The assy. for the higher numbered engines may be for those D955is that use the 1050's crankcase and I don't know if anyone has tried to use one on an earlier '02> D955i engine.

It looks like item 14 is not for your engine per the serial number.

That is true it looks like that but triumph does that alot. Like with the starter I have found, but the engine was not changet during the 02-04 why would it be a different part. Why did they change the starter # but even a denso tec. said the only difference is the color of the outside.

Lambene, The higher engine numbered part looks to be really two parts; P/Ns 5566513 & 5566514 ($421.28) as opposed to P/N 5566515 ($433.33). Not much of a savings.

Remember also that parts maybe packaged differently or individually from the dealer or a used parts dealer...disassemble first to see what's actually broke.

I know the book says I should get P/N 5566515 ($433.33) that comes with both the Gear and the sprag clutch "SPARES KIT,SPRAG & GEAR". But what if only the sprag clutch needs to be replaced and not the gear! Then do I still need to buy P/N 5566515 ($433.33) or could I buy just P/N 5566514 because that would come with only what I needed. If I don't need to why would I purchas both parts.

Lambene, If your engine was in the higher range both *513 and *514 are an assured fit. It isn't, therefore it's a gamble to buy parts before you yank out the sprag and eyeball what's actually broken.

TriumphAnt http://www.triumph-ant.co.uk/ can likely help you get just the part(s) you need.
