I need some help here. I just got my hands on a 96 Daytona super III. I don’t know much about Triumphs, and I’m having a real hard time finding any information on this bike. The truth is, I got it on trade and don’t really plan on keeping it. But I’d like to know what I’m getting into when I get ready to sell it. I’m not even sure what to ask for it. Is the super III rare? Is that a good thing? It’s scary fast, but I’m a cruiser guy and this is my 1st sport bike, so I don’t even know if it’s faster than normal. Anyone know of a good site I can go to and find some info on this bike? Anything would be helpful. And if you want it, I’m in the Milwaukee, Chicago area.

Thanks.

Hi,
I have one of these - 94 version but its probabltythe same. Its is rare - only 300 made, 150 to USA and 150 to the rest of the world. Its basically a tuned and lightened version of the standard Daytona 900, with tuning work done by Cosworth. The cams are different as is the state of tuning of the carbs, also the compression is higher and I think the engines cases are lighter. Excellent six pot brakes by Alcan - very desirable! Then theres the use of carbon fibre. Power is up to a claimed 115bhp (in your dreams  ) from 97bhp, and weight is a few kilos down on the standard. Very comfy and fastish bike. Will be left for dead though by anything modern. Handling is good but slow due to weight and height of C of G.
Having said all that I love mine - just need to get it tuned and my new tank painted up and fitted.
cheers, dave94super3
