I rode Triumph Daytonas the whole time I lived in Europe (10yrs.) now I'm back in the states and motorcycle shopping again!!! My first choice is a Daytona 955i. I can get an 05 or 04 (still new) or an 03 in the crate still for $7000. The dilema that has me looking at Hayabusa's is that the closest Triumph dealer to me is more then 500 miles away! While In France I never had a single breakdown on my 1200 or 595 I still had the comfort of a dealer around the corner. Now to buy one and not have a dealer within 500 miles I'm kinda shying away. What would any of you do?? By the way hello to all I am a newbie here.

My closest Triumph dealer is 150 miles away. I've never needed them but when I do its going to be painful. I do my own maintenance by planning ahead and ordering parts online that are shipped t my house. This solution has worked to date, if I ever have a major problem that has to go to the dealer its going to be a major pain in the butt. I took all this into account when I bought my son his bike - a yamaha. My thoughts were if he had a honda, suzuki, yamaha, of kawasaki he could find a dealer in about every town if he had a problem. You are talking about buying a new bike which, I guess - never been fortunate enough to get a new bike - has to go back to the dealer for warrenty maintenance. That's a long way to go to get service. If I'm riding 1000 miles round trip, I want it to be where I want to go. I love my Triumph, it always stands out amongst other bikes, maybe because they are few and far between, maybe because dealers are few and far between. I wouldn't tell you not to get a Triumph. I will say that any dilemma that puts you into the seat of a new sport bike ain't no dilemma. Enjoy the new bike.

When I talked to the Triumph dealer today he said there very low maintenance! This I know to be true. He also said that simple serviceing could be done by any of the Jap dealers. I also know that the local zuki dealer works on a couple of local Ducatis. He also said that if it's any warranty work other the mech he would just ship the parts to me. So I think I may get the Daytona! LOL! my 1st bike was a brand new bike an 86 FZ 600 $2800 out the door! Things sure have changed!!!

Welcome Legionaire! I hope you find the time you spend here informative and enjoyable.

I am like kaosj in that I have never owned a new bike, so I have never had to deal with warranty issues and the like. I also have done whatever work I could myself and have sent off the work I couldn't.

I would imagine that the odds are good that you would not really need the dealer, but as soon as I say that someone will come on here and start with the horror stories.
Triumph doesn't have any more issues than any other maker, but if you did end up with one of "those" bikes, the headache would go on forever it would seem.

After all this, I just don't know. I guess it depends on if you are buying for the practicality or the passion of owning a bike.

I think I would buy a used T3 or T5 and ride the wheels off it and not worry about the dealer.

Good luck!
