Ok, so my bike runs now most of the time. It's a 2000 955. It had been sitting up for quite a while and I replenished and flushed all fluids, plugs, and fuel pump. Also removed the CA emissions stuff and replaced the hoses off the throttle bodies with some standard vacuum lines. So here's the problem:

I turn on the key and the lights come on and are accompanied by a sometimes loud and sometimes more subdued squeealllllllll then it stops and the bike will turn over and run...most of the time. On a sidenote does the sidestand sensor sometimes cause the bike to cut off when the sidestand is down? Mine seems more temperamental when it is on it's sidestand versus just cranked up prior to helmet and zoom.

That squeak would be your fuel system priming. My 02 does it.

Sidestand switches are usually filthy from road grime and chain lube. Clean it out, make it happy and it should be more reliable.

Sweet, thanks Pinballer! One last question on the CA/EPA stuff I pulled out. What does one do with the electrical connecter that went to the emissions system? Would that be what is causing my check engine light to remain on?
