T595 wheelie???

Hey, does anyone have any input on this:

I've had my '98 Daytona T595 for about 2 years now and have never been able to really "stand up" a wheelie. It runs fine and is plenty powerful and fast but won't pull a wheelie. If I pop the clutch a little or slow quickly then hammer on the throttle it'll lift the front wheel a little but not much. Anyone have a similar situation or any input?

A Dymag front wheel would help...

Any bike will wheelie. The safest way is to use your body to help it along.
ALWAYS cover your rear brake and be ready to hit it if you are going over backwards.

In 1st gear, get to the RPM where the power starts, Chop the throttle closed to load the front end then crack it open again while pulling/leaning back. If you get scared, close the throttle.
You can do this to get started doing little pop wheelies to get an idea where your bike likes to come up and how fast.

I prefer 2nd gear wheelies over little rises because you can carry them longer. I suck at shifting through the gears while wheeling.

Once you get the hang of it, you can practice body position and stand up. I prefer sit down wheelies and only stand up if I need to see.

Here is me goofing off on the "Wheelie Machine" at an AMA race. Pretty cool tool.

I am no wheelie expert but with some practice, you can impress the kids.

My 98 wheelies pretty easily from corner to corner up Hwy 9.

...but careful though. If you stand the bike up all the time, you can starve the engine of oil.

Some guys put more oil in their engine to be on the safe side...

It's safer with two contact patches.
