Yes, do keep the bike. You'll thank yourself later. There are a few things that will set you apart from your buddies:

1. The Triumph name, all the Japanese bikes are 'just another bike'
2. The roar. I never get tired of it.
3. The people. (not that it matters, lol, but everyone will look at you before they look at your buddies)

Your issues aside ckassen, I am really doubtful it is the ECM. I would not go looking for one (unless you find a bargain) until you rule everything else out.

Also please note - your ecm nbr1stunna would be a MC2000 compared to the MC1000 on all the other triples after 1998.
You can find your MC1000 from a T509 Speed Triple or T595 Daytona; yours should have a single long connector on the top whereas the MC1000 has two rectangular plugs and also encompasses a barometric sender.

First off sounds like you need to see if your fuel pump is actually being powered. Check the power to & from the fuel pump relay - that would be the one second from left side of bike in the front row of four. The left-most one beside it is the main power relay.

Regarding the alarm, there should be a plug also under the seat that has a bypass plug for alarm in it - this bypass plug would have two wire loops on it to make the circuit that the alarm module would normally close.

Here are pics of the ground block location and the replacement block.
Notice that the new one has a cable that goes directly to the battery -ve terminal.

Part # on replacement ground block is T2505055

This is what the alarm bypass looks like - don't confuse this with the ground block. An alarm plugs into that socket.
However if no alarm, MUST have this bypass loop connector plugged in to allow bike to run.
In the top pic, it's in the bottom of the picture, laying on top of battery in this instance.
(The cable at the top right of picture with the rubber-sleeved connector is the OBDII connector plug.)

Since the bike was running & just quit, I would not expect this to be a problem in this case - just check however that it is secure. Also really just a reference to differentiate it from the ground block.

Thanks for all the replies. Just got back in town and checked all the illustrations. I have checked top to bottom and it seems that someone has removed the ground block and hard wired everything. I did go to the triumph dealer and buy the Joint Box Sub-harness, but I don't see anything that it would connect to or even try to splice into. Any help is appreciated.

Is that the 'official' name for the T2505055 part I referenced?
If you don't have a ground block it won't do much good.

Are you sure it's not there? If it hasn't been messed with it may be covered in foam & 'hiding'. You can still see some foam clinging to the bottom of the white plug in the photos above.
You might find it lurking under the frame rail on the right side behind the tank - take off the tail section if necessary to get a better look.
I can't see how someone could hard-wire it - you would still need to have all the black wires connected somehow.

What is your VIN #? Those bikes with a range of 132693 - 161257 in the last six nos of their VIN no. are definitely affected by the earth block problem.

Too bad I wasn't a little closer - will be in Richmond VA tomorrow but only for the day; back next week Tues - Fri though, but I guess it's still not exactly down the road.

Decosse: I will look again this evening. As for Richmond...give me a time, day, date, etc...and I will gladly come to you!! I want to hear this thing run so bad, it is nearly killing me. I am at work right now, but I will send you the VIN.

Decosse: I also noticed that my fuse box is located on the left side vice mounted on the top like the picture depicts.

SHE RUNS!!! SHE RUNS!!! Come to find out the ECM Main Power Relay was bad. I switched the fuel pump relay to the ECM Relay and the engine light lit up. I then took another relay from the bike and plugged into the fuel pump relay. Hit the start button and on the first turn...VIOLA!! Gentlemen, I am about to cry. Thought I would never hear her run. I have to admit the Black Widow exhaust sounds wicked. Going to the dealership tomorrow and order both relays to be on the safe side. I was reading on the T595 forum today and got the idea. I tell you...I want to say THANK YOU to all the triumph riders that helped me. This is an awesome site. PHEW, to think that I do not have to buy a $1700 ECM is literally about to make me cry. THANKS EVERYONE!! Can't wait to take it for a spin!
