Racetech fork spring deal
Passing along a good deal I researched on Racetech springs.

The Daytona and Speed Triple use the same fork springs as a Honda Valkyrie (and others). This place has them for $85 shipped. That is 30% cheaper than I could find anywhere. It took about two weeks to recieve but the price was right.

I bought .90 but they offer .85 and .95 rates as well. Go to Racetech's website to calculate your optimum spring rate and setup.

http://www.hondadirectlineusa.com/stores/byProduct.asp Go to the Valkyrie store and look under "suspension"

Part number for mine was: RAC-FRSPS403190 - Race Tech Fork springs .90kg/mm

Good luck,
Ed

a great find and resource... thank-you.

But, even moreso--- I'm dead curious how you ever sleuthed that out--- who would of thought a Valkyrie fork spring would be what's hiding on the inside of my Daytona's fork tubes :=) Good detective work.

I went to Race Tech's spring calculator--- the stock spring (my 2004 955i) is .78

Accdg to their calculator--- with rider weighing in at 215 pounds and for street applications--- they are suggesting a .95 for the street and a 1.00 for track applications.

Good stuff--- been wanting to upgrade my suspension--- the stock spring just does horrible, scary nose dives when you hit the front brakes on my tona--- till I put in a LOT of pre-load--- which gets rid of the nose dive but has no compliance left and even small road perbutations sends the front end into near shudders. So--- I think a new stiffer spring might be what I need.

Well, I am now officially a cheapskate and that is what forced me to do some research on fork springs.

I went to the Racetech site to get my specific part number for the 02 Daytona 955i.
Once I had that and the spring measurements conveniently provided, I did searches on that part number to see what came up.

That direct line store matched for some Honda models and then I went back to Racetech to confirm if the same part number came up for that Honda model on their site.

I then found a different online catalog which listed all the bikes that used that spring (just to confirm before I laid out the cash). I shopped around and the direct line site happened to have the best price as well. $85.60 shipped compared to Racetech at $109 +shipping.

I ordered and they showed up about 2 weeks later. They did send emails with a UPS tracking number after a week. I wanted to have the springs in my hand before posting the site to TriumphRat to make sure they were decent to deal with.

I love the web!

Good luck, maybe someone can post this up to the compatible parts post.

Hmmm....I'd like to redo the forks on my Sprint ('98 w/o preload adjustment). Found a site with Progressives (p/n 11-1144)for $56 plus $10 shipping....seems to be a pretty decent deal. Anyone care to comment ref. Progressives vs. Racetechs? I tend to carve just a bit, not a racer but do want a bit firmer front ride. The Kawa rear shock seems to be the next mod....I've read the research on the board but was wondering about more specific info on the Sprint Exec/Sprint 900.

I am pretty sure that you cannnot go wrong with the Progressive springs. I had them in a few bikes over the years. This time, I went for Racetech, mainly because their site is a good one and has great info to get a good setup for your model, weight, riding style, etc...

My Race Tech Experience
If anyone is on the fence about the value of Race Tech springs and Gold Seals, I offer my opinion. I put these in my '99 D1200SE last year (a 1.0 for my 182lbs.) and a Hagon shock in the rear. What a difference With the stock springs I got a lot of dive on hard braking and rise on hard accereration - so much so that it really disconcerted me sometimes. That is all gone now. The dive and rise are now under good control and there is more feel and stability in the curves too. I was worried about conpliance before I installed them - I thought they would perhaps be too hard feeling and transmit some hard shocks over bumps and such. Didn't happen. It's amazing - the Race Tech's give you great control yet the compliance is as good or better than stock. No way to lose, just put them on

Hey Pinballer!
You mention these springs fit the Daytona and The Speed Triple. Any idea what year Speed Triples? (I guessing they are only for the pre-'05 Triples.)

Good post!

FRSPS4031090...up to 04 Speed Triples, and I would double check for the pre-00 models.

The newer S3's 05+, use a different part number.

Pinballer, nice find. So did you replace anything else, or just the springs and oil? How does it feel now with what you have done?
