New Loom

Hi,
Triumph Technical got back to the dealer's and said that if the battery has been low it is possible that the loom can get fried. They have agreed to replace the loom under warrenty, the bike is 18 months old. So quite pleased about that, but a little concerned that the circuit is that weak. My 2002 CE has been flat a couple of times and never given me any problems, so maybe there is a fault in some looms.

Collected Bike

Hi,
Well I got a call a little after 4pm yesterday to say that my bike had had the new loom fitted and was ready for collection.
I spoke to the technician, he said the main charge fuse was now drawing 17 amps and normal (It was drawing 32amps).
To date I've covered 170 miles on the new loom, all fine so far.
My thanks to Wylie & Holland, my local Triumph dealer and George the technician for sticking with it and getting my bike sorted properly, swiftly and professionally and for the use of a loan bike.

Pete

I've recently got my 02 CE back after suffering from almost the same exact battery/fuse/charging problems everyone has stated in this post. Triumph supplied a new thicker cabled harness. From what I've seen it looks to be 2 -3 times thicker cabling than the original one. I'm working on the 4th tank of gas now & all seems well. It seems like the factory recognizes that it is a problem on some of our bikes and is dealing with it on an as needed basis

That was a recall item back in 2002 (on 2002 models)!
Somehow your bike missed the update. They didn't 'just' recognize it.

You are correct sir on that part. That was ther first thing the tech checked ( I went to a different shop than from where I bought it & was having maintenance done) was whether the harness upgrade had been done yet. He explained that it wasn't just confined to Daytonas but had showed up in other triple models also.
