Kinda starts but will not idle

Sorry to keep bugging you guys for help but my service manual still has not arrived. I got the fuel pump today and buttoned up the bike and for the first time in 2 1/2 years she turned over and tried and tried and tried to run, BUT couldn't settle into idle for more than a few seconds. Any ideas?

Also, I found what I thought to be an emissions canister inside with "Honda" inscribed on it and a bunch of cheap plastic tubing? I pulled it but am now fearing that maybe the disconnect of some of the vacuum tubing is throwing the balance off and creating the inability to idle/run?

Either way I was in ecstasy finally listening to her breathe for those few seconds....it has been way to long since I stradled a triple...so to speak...

From your previous post you already put new plugs fuel filter etc and the pump - having sat that long though I'd probably suspect the injectors may be gummed up and that could be what's casuing it not to run properly.
Seems like you have just about everything else covered already

The idle control valve looks like this

The three hoses on the left (two bottom one top) are the locations that go to the three throttle bodies (order not important).
Those hoses should ONLY be in those locations and be in good condition, no cracks or leaks. Leaking hoses would make it rev high however.

If it has a carbon canister (CA bike) then there may be some additional hoses that route to that - nothing that will affect the performance however - you can rip that lot out if you like!

I would seriously suspect the injectors.

Edit - Sorry - as I check back your posts you have a 2000, thought it was a T595 -

The Idle Control valve is like this on your bike - Just make sure that if it did initially have the CA carbon canister, & you removed it, that you don't have 'open' connections on the idle lines to the TB's.

project for Tuesday!

Thanks again so much! I can't wait to get in from work tomorrow. Hopefully I can get her up and running and let everyone know how the first ride went. My Pirelli's come in tomorrow/Wed-ish and I've been debating on a chain. Never really installed tires or chains myself...fairly do-able? I thought the chain would require some special tools?

Either way I'm glad to be a part of this group and really appreciate all the help. Looking forward to doing my part soon!

Ride safe!

For the chain you will need a splitter & riveter tool.
Tires? Take your wheels off then take them to a shop to mount & balance - should be nominal fee.
