Stolen Daytona 2004 SE

Well some piece of crap a$$hole decided to steal my Dayonta from inside the "secure" garage where I rent a space.

Should you come across the following vin, kindly report to the local authorities. smt502fpx4j205932

If interested in the story from today, read on.

I last saw my moto last Sunday, April 28 when I returned it to the small private parking garage where I park. When I went to pick it up today at 2pm for a ride, I noticed it was missing. Some workers in the building saw the bike in it's spot up until some part of Friday.

Now, the bike was last parked with steering lock enabled and in 1st gear (to keep thieves from rolling it away.) Most likely, someone drove a van into the garage, lifted the bike into the back and drove off.

The good news: the garage has a video camera system. So a quick plate match on vans/trucks entering the building against occupants should turn up some leads. There's also cameras outside, which should also turn up something. In the past 3 hours I've accepted that my bike is now gone, but hoping that the video will turn a tangible lead to prosecute the scumbags responsible.

Keep the rubber down.

Ah man, sorry to hear that. That really blows.

I hate to sound negative, but when my friend had his bike stolen, they used a van. they had no plates and the windows were blacked out. The guys pulled in, in a way that the cameras couldn't see them. If they are professionals, that will happen, but I hope they were not smart, and you can find these bastards.

Lets look for parts on EBAY soon. We can maybe find a new seller with a whole bunch of Daytona parts and track them down that way.

Any identifying scratches or other things to look for?

Did you have any special parts on it, so that if we see someone selling them with a lot of Daytona parts, it will make it more obvious.

Exhuast? Rear sets?

Anything that will make it easy to spot?

The bike was in immaculate condition, no scratches anywhere.

As far as other identifying things:
1. Black widow high mount.
2. Techmount fairing mount GPS holder
3. Power socket mounted in dash

According to the police-typical sport bike thieves strip down the bike within hours of the theft, remove parts that are easily resellable without a direct link to a stolen bike. Items such as fairings, wheels, etc. Upon stripping the bike, the frame, engine are just dumped/set on fire.

Keep your eyes open and maybe something fishy will turn up.

I'm a firm believer in karma, what goes around comes around.
Cheers,

Update

Quick Update:

I received a copy of the garage surveillance footage from the day my bike was stolen. As much as it hurt, I forced myself to watch it.

The thief must have smashed in the ignition and then hardwired-as he clearly rides the bike out of the garage.

His face was covered throughout the entire process, and since no other vehicle involved in the theft-no other plate to aid with tracking down the crook.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the guy is caught riding the bike.

**** that really sux. Sorry for the loss.

We all park our bikes from time to time, and locked or not, rely on the general goodness of man that no one will steal or trash it. But there are always jerks out there.

No chance they rode it all the way to Canada to sell it did they?

Or rode it to New Hampshire to sell?
