Can anyone tell me if the 2001 Daytona came in red?

Nope..just 3.

Caspian Blue, Lightning Yellow, and Aluminium Silver. You'll have to look at 2002's to get Tornado Red.

Before I bought my CE, I was looking at buying a red 955i that I could have swore was a 2001. I could be wrong, though...

It's more accurate to go by the last 6 digits of the VIN than it is to use the model year. Triumph tends to announce things at model year changes but this does not necessarily correlate to what the factory may be doing.
