"New" 2000 955 won't start!?!

HELP!!!
I thought I did everything right....how they all start off right? No, but seriously I did fresh plugs, air filter, oil&filter, fuel filter, fuel pump is on the way, tires, chain, etc and the battery. So I shot in some starter fluid for good measure and tried to light it up and nothing, no starter turning or anything. Lights blinked as normal but no starter whine at all. Did my starter die over the last week? It ran at the dealer and nothing really changed. I hope this is an easy fix one of you guys has experienced recently?

Thanks guys...and thanks for all the welcome backs!

Cheers,

Mike

Mike, Ensure the engine shutoff switch on the right handlebar is 'on'.

Check

Verrry Funny Brad!

No, I've done that one before but this time all is normal until I press the start and the lights fade but no starter whine?

Bike in gear, sidestand down
Clutch lever switch
On latter - do you have Pazzos fitted by chance? Make sure that adjusters are opened up all way to ensure the switch is being made.

If bike in neutral, it shouldn't care if stand up or down though - is your N light on (even though you know it's not in gear) ?
It sounds like you might have a problem with Neutral switch, but this would also affect the indicator light
