Super IV ??

(Img http://image1.frappr.com/pix1/i/2008...15a0_large.jpg Img)
Picked this up last week...Every thing I have found Says it is a Super IV, But have not found any thing on the web saying there is such a Bike...At leest to conferm there were Super IV made. It has carbon fiber finders and Triumph6 brakes and 13,600 mils on the clock. The folder from the origanall owner has Triumph Super IV Daytona 1200 on it. Is this a 1200 with superIII parts on it or did Triumph make the super IV ? Thanks in advance....New owner.

First, congratulations on your purchase. I have always been partial to these bikes in yellow and this is really a clean and goodlooking example.

As an owner of a '99 Daytona 1200SE, I am not aware of such a model as a 1200 Super IV. Neither my owners manual, which covers several models, nor my Haynes manual #2162, which covers all the carburettor engines from '91 to '99, makes any mention of such a model.

The 900 Daytona Super III was the 900cc engine reworked by Cosworth Engineering to deliver 115 hp from 98, the addition of 6-pot brakes (as on the 1200) and some carbon bits. If you have some carbon bits on your 1200, then this is the only thing that seems to be different from the normal 1200.

So no real answers from me and I remain puzzled as to the existence of a "Super IV" model.

Congrats on the new bike. I am a former Daytona 900 owner, so I'm a bit familiar with the mid 90s Triumphs. This is the first that I have heard of a Super IV.

Perhaps the prior owner applied the super III upgrades/paint scheme to a Daytona 1200? Regardless, the Daytona 1200 owners here will tell you its a fantastic bike, and the 6 pot upgrades are a big improvement over than standard 4 pot callipers. The Super III had "hotter" cams and higher compression than the Daytona 900, I wonder if this or other engine work was performed on your bike?

If there's no such thing as a Super IV, who cares, you have a great bike that is extremely unique.

Enjoy! (and post more pics!)

Who cares.

Looks like an early 1200 (too early to be an se) with all the super3 goodies on, hugely expensive thing to do then, virtually impossible to do now.
So who cares if theres no such thing as a super4 youve got a great one off bike.

There. Got the pic thing...As said before this has all the super parts on the bike...I even have a warranty invoice replacing the front calipers in 99 with 6 piston calipers at just under 10,000 miles. It is a 95.

I forgot to mention that the original clip-ons have been replaced with higher handlebars. Likely better for long distance trips.

I am a little surprised to see the Micron slip-ons. I wanted to replace my stock mufflers a couple or years ago, but I only found D&D's available and removed the baffles (replaced with fiberglass) in my stock mufflers instead. I do not believe Micron makes them for the D12 any more.
