Drag Times?

I have an 03 955i and my buddy has an 07 GSXR-600 and he has been saying that he could smoke me in the 1/8th mile. Has anyone dragged their 955i and what kind of times were you putting down?

So do I have a chance?

Shockwave3724, Yes, you have a chance. The GSXR750 is pretty close to the D955i's performance.

That's what I thought, I havent raced before, but I have about 30 hp on him and the weights going to be about even, so I was pretty sure I could beat him.
I think we are going to the strip in two weeks and I will post up my time.

It depends on how good of a rider your friend and you are...There is alot more to drag racing than most think....I have seen riders on 600s(really good to perfect rider) out run 1000s(average to pretty good rider) in the 8th, those 600s will get it now days....Unfortunately the 955i about 100lbs heavier a bike than a new 600...

The weight difference isnt much at all, his bike is about 70 pounds lighter than mine, but hes about 70 pound heavier than I am, so that evens the weight. He has a good reaction time and has done this before, I havent been to a dragstrip before. My buddy with a zx10r raced him and the 600 would be ahead for a little way, then the zx10r left him for dead.

Cool

LOL!
sounds like you buddy is very ambitious about his bikes performance. When I do the "my bike is faster than yours thing." I never do it to win, just for the fun of it. My 955 has supprised me on several occasions. Dont sell yourself short in the performance category.

Your 955i can smoke a 600, as long as you shift right (I raced 4 tonight), beat them off the line and the top end(with no fairings)....I guess I got a really good tank of gas this time...lol

Well, took the 955i drag racing today. I ended up beating my buddy with the 07 GXSR-600 almost everytime. He beat me three times, the first time, he jumped the light so I actually won. Second time, I missed the shift into second, hit the rev limiter, found second, my back tire spun hard, so I let off and just coasted across the finish line. Third time I managed to somehow stall my bike off the start. My best time of the day was 7.574 sec at 101.12 MPH in the 1/8th mile.

You had better get that down....A good rider on a gsxr 600 can run 7.40s all day, a friend of mines best time was a 7.16 and he knows another guy(one of the best in Dallas area that ran a 7.02 on a stock gsxr 600-only once)...Unfortunately a good 1000/rider can run 6.40s, my triumph(with me on it) cant come close to that....

With a few more runs and a little practice you could get it down to 7.20's easy....

I think I could manage to get close to 7.20, I am still getting used to what the bike is capable of and could launch it harder. I'll probably go back in a couple of weeks and try it again.
