Also is there another way to reset the TPS? Like unplugging the computer or something?

Carb Sync Tool

Well i am having a hard time finding the exact one that I use to use, but it looked just like this one. They have cheaper one on the web site that is around $25 that doesn't show a pictures, but the one I used looked pretty much just like this one.

Here is a more expensive one from JC whitney that would work well on Bikes. I keep saying I am going to order one of these, but i never have. The air tubing things seemed to work well, though much slower than probably having one of these gauges. Might not be quite as accurite as these guages either.

Sorry

Just read your last message. Yeah that instruction sheet you found on that web site is basically what i did. I didn't use water though.. i guess it would work, but i would fear it sucking up into the engine. I figure with using heavy weight oil, it would move slower and also if it did go into the engine. (never had it happen) it would be no big deal because it will just get burned, and cause no problems other than a little smoke.

So I just spoke with my local dealer - they said that between resyncing the TB's and doing the 12k service, I'm looking at about 6 hours labor and $1,000.

Ugh. Knowing that the motor will probably die at most stoplights moving forward, is riding in this condition going to do further damage?

How big a job is this to attempt yourself?

Hey All,

Stumbled upon this step by step guide in my travels... seems easy enough, but I'm nervous to try.

$1,000 bucks at the dealer or roll the dice and try yourself? Choices, choices, choices...

$1000 for the 12K service, ouch....I am guessing that it includes the valve adjustment...

Now that I know what is required to sync the throttle bodes, I am going to Home Depot to buy some clear tubing and make my own manometer(carbtune). All that a carbtune does is measure the amount of vacume in each cylinder, piece of cake....i'll be done in no time...

Cool - good luck man! Curious to see how it goes - set up a service at a different dealer in 2 weeks ($700 with oil change, fuel filter, valve adj, and TB sync). If yours goes well, maybe I'll give it a shot.
