Well, the bike still runs poorly on hard throttle and deceleration.

I found a page on forced adaption in the service manual. It is my understanding that if the conditions specifed there are all met, the bike will adapt the lamda fuel trim on its own. I did the procedure 4 times this afternoon and when I get another chance to test, will update.

On the short ride home, it seemed ok...a little less rough and the exhaust smelled pretty rich compared to before. I do not want emotions or desire to cloud my judgement so I will ride it again in the next few days to note any changes.

I did today, switch to 89 octane instead of 93 and will try 87 octane next. What are the octane requirements for this bike?

Thanks,
Ed

The system only uses the lamda at idle/low throttle setting.

Check to make sure you have no air leaks anywhere (intake & exhaust); balance your TBs;

Yes, been through the airbox, all hoses firmly attached. I am missig one of the little spring rings that go around the boot but was like that before and made a nice pop when it seated.
No leaks at midpipe, I will check the headers. It runs so bad at on deceleration with loud backfires and stumbles forever through the 3-6k flat spot..I mean I can count to three before anything happens when getting on the gas. It just sputters and chokes and the revs slow way down through there. Maybe something else could be wrong but I did ride for 300 trouble free miles to NY, then fine to the dealer with the new pipe before getting the TOR.

I am going to go though it all again. Take everything apart, check all connections.

Bike idles very well, starts up without much trouble. I just hit 3100 miles.

Before I change anything with my fuel map, I am going to test the TPS.

At small openings, the bike runs fine. If I give it hard throttle anywhere, it first bogs.

Will update if a bad TPS is causing the problem. If that is not it, I will change the fuel map.

UPDATE. Bike is now running as it should...
Not perfect but at least rideable.

I adjusted my TPS and the dealer zeroed the throttle position and presto, my bike now actually responds to throttle input.

So now I have the Muzzy pipe which seems to work fine with the TOR tune. There is a slight flat spot between 6-7k rpm but it can now get through it without sputtering and slowing down.

RJscotti is going to provide a tuneboy hookup and we will dial our bikes in for smooth and good midrange power.

Thanks,
Ed
