No 7th gear

The other day while riding, I thought I was in 5th gear and tried to shift into 6th. Well, I was already in 6th at a nice relaxing leisurely pace. But all of a sudden I found myself in neutral, revved it up high, nearly shat myself, reshifted again and was back in 6th gear. I tried to do it again on purpose a couple times and was unsuccessfull, it shifts really well. Has this happened to anyone else? Does anyone think there may be a problem? Or maybe it was just 'something that happened'. It hasn't happened again, so I hope it was just a fluke. By the way, when I say neutral, I mean the green "N" was not lit, the engine just revved like it was in neutral.(No the clutch wasn't applied at the time.) It's an '02 D955i with 10,000 km on it(I just bought it a month and a half ago. I wasn't riding it too hard or fast either, it happened at about 100km/h.

I've had this happen a few times. Mostly, it is when I'm shifting from 4th to 5th gear. Must be one hell of a gap between there.

its happens to me on occasion. I just tell myself it was a sloppy shift, and brush it off.

I occasionally find a 'false neutral' between 5th & 6th if I'm sloppy.

I need to rephrase my last post. It was between 5th and 6th as I just ended up having this happen yesterday. Weird.

Yea, it happens. Changing oil'll smooth it out if trannys in good shape. Hope this helps!

Thanks everyone, I feel better. Maybe I was in 5th after all, and got sloppy with the shift while enjoying the roar of the triple coming out of a long smooth twisty.

Throttling out of the hole at a red light on a busy Friday night, next to a striking woman piloting something like a 'Vette or Hayabusa guarantees recreation of this rare intermittent bike stalling occurrence.
