Question System 3 worries

Hi.

I've just bought a '02 Daytona. The bike drove back from the dealer fine and was perfect for a while. The problem is that suddenly now it wont start. The engine turns over and I can smell petrol from the exhaust but just no sign of a spark. I am starting to think it might be the Immobiliser. I read the user guide and de-spike instructions on Datatools web site but these alarms seem awfy complicated. Am I correct in thinking that to make sure its not the immobiliser part of the alarm which is causing the problem all I need to do is to de-spike then refit it and make sure it can be turned on or off from the fob?

If anyone else has any idea on the problem I'd apreciate some advice.

I'm not trying to be funny or insulting, but I too came across that problem after getting mine home. Silly me, it was just the kickstand was down

now have no display

The side stand was down but the bike was in neutral and the cluch was in. The starter motor appeared to be turning the engine over but it wouldn't fire. Everything else looked normal.

Now I have a bigger problem though. I was checking various connectors I could see to make sure nothing had shaken loose and squirted a few with WD40. I took the tank off as I thought would allow me to maybe see a loose connector somewhere. Looking down the deep gap where the rear end of the petrol tank normally sits I could see an exposed thick brown lead bolted to a small cylinder with some other leads attached to it, they looked like it may be part of the ignition. As this cylinder appeared to be exposed to the rear of the bike (sits close to the front left edge of the rear tyre) and I could see the rubber cap didn't fully protect the lead I thought it may bennefit from a quick spray. I gave it a quick skoosh and the alarm beeped once. I noticed that the speedo LCD and oil pressure lights had gone out. Now when I turn the ignition on the only light I see is the engine management light and the neutral light, there is no LCD reading at all. I turned it off and on again a few times and once or twice it did appear to come inot life but quickley went out again. Can anyone tell me what went wrong and how do I fix it.
