Front suspension D12

Hi all from australia. I ride a '96 1200 and have just been going through some old threads. It appears that most of my questions regarding the brakes have been answered. I am currently sourcing a set of '02 Busa 6 pot Tokicos. But, my big concern is the front forks, as it is now, the bike dives very hard using the current brakes. If I fit a set of 6 pots this is only going to axagerate the problem, is it not? Has anybody upgraded the fork coils? A supplier here in aussie land has a multi rate set available. Currently I have a 30mm spacer on top of the standard coils. The bike is an absolute dream to ride, apart from its top heavy weight but I recently rode it four 4 days over 1800kms and it rode beautifully, a great bike.

Hello Frosty,

I have a 1999 Daytona 1200 SE. Thankfully, it has 6-pot brakes standard, so if you prefer you can put these on your bike. The '99 is the only year that had them, I believe.

I also had a lot of dive, and lift too on hard acceleration. I found it disconcerting. I fixed the problem with Race Tech progressive forks and Gold Seals: www.racetech.com On the rear I put a Hagon monoshock: http://www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/main1st.htm Now my big D12 handles like a dream. The dive and lift is now very well controlled, and amazingly the suspension is as compliant as the stock setup.

Hagon has progressive springs too, but I feel Race Tech is better.

OK Frosty,

I gave you the Race Tech web site twice. The Hagon Australian distributer is at: http://www.hagon-shocks.co.uk/wdaustralasia.htm
