I put a set of Michelin Pilot Powers. The stick great in the corners. They work great. I also went from the factory setup of 190/50 to the 180/55. It handles a lot better in the corners.

the pilot powers....blah....i also tried the pilot powers 2ct's same conclusion. i loved the dunlop Qualifers. they are SUPER soft sticky....not known foe mileage...but they grip. by far the best tire i have run in years. they will soon be on the Tona and S4.

I had Dunlop qualifiers on my 95 Daytona 900 and loved them. Though not known for mileage durability they were uber sticky.

I have the oem Bridgestone's on my 2004 Daytona 955i now and find they're ok tires-not remarkable. When it's time to replace I think I'll go back to the qualifiers. That is unless Bridgestone wins more moto GP races

Nowhere near enough mileage to make them feasible. Oh, sure the qualifiers grip like Sh*t to a blanket but at what cost? If you're doing track days these are just about perfect.

You'll need deep pockets to keep these things on your bike. I know I can't afford them...

For road use the Michelin Pilot Powers are terrific tires. I didn't mind the stock OEM Bridgestones either by the way.

I mean, these days with new compounds, is there such a thing as a bad tire? It also seems that the guys screaming for more tire grip always seem to have very wide chicken strips when they post pictures of their bikes. Maybe having sticky tires is more a mental thing that what's really needed? I dunno, just sayin'.

I rarely, if ever ride in the rain. That maybe skewing my thinking. I don't like sliding in the wet much at all, never have.

I do know that I constantly find myself held up on mountain bends by hotshots on racing type rubber on theoretically faster bikes. Most riders I encounter are hot going in and on fire going out but are woefully slow through the bend (which is where you need the sticky rubber)

The parking lot at a hot bike spot will tell you a lot about how they ride and what they actually need.

I burn through a set of tires every 5000Km (just over 3100 miles) but then it's always quick rides on mountain roads. At this rate and at this cost, I'm going to have to put Metzeler Marathons on the next time to save my wallet.

I'm no hero, just observing...

I liked the qualifiers except I can't get much for milage out of them....like techmanbd...I went with pp's in the 180 version..it turns in better than the 190 rear.

I just bought a 955i and bought Pirelli Diablo Corsa III tires for it, they are dual compound which is supposed to give them more life, but give you good grip in the corners. Hopefully will have them on the bike next weekend, I will post on here once I get a couple rides on them and let you know how I like them.

I buy like new take-offs from guys who buy new GSXR's who pull them off at 50 miles and put on race tires. I paid 120 shipped for the last set of BT014's with the nipples still on them.

I used to race...won a championship, raced as an expert. I never had tire warmers and could only afford other peoples take offs. It felt great passing them on their old rubber in the first corner. Point is, 95% of riders on the road do not really need a sticky tire because they are not going fast enough (nor should they be on public roads), to make good use of it. IMHO, they put sticky tires on a very quick motorcycle and still wind up in a ditch because they think the tires are the final thing that are going to make them so fast.

I would suggest a decent rated tire that is a good compromise between mileage and can handle real world street conditions (puddles, gravel, extreme temperature changes and time).
