Tuneboy
Where is the best place in the states to get a reasonable tuneboy kit for a 2003 Daytona 955i? I just bought the bike and it has a Two Brothers Pipe on it and seems like it falls flat in the lower revs. From all the reading it sounds like a Tuneboy would help me with this. I tend to be a tinkerer, is it recommended that I buy the tuneboy or try to find someone else to do this for me. The dealer in my area doesn't seem very experienced with this stuff. Can their stock Triumph ECU modification system make the changes I need, or am I better of doing this myself, since they don't seem to get it much. They basically said they could only load 3 predefined maps onto it. From the reading I have done it seems that people state none of the stock maps will work real well for my setup. Other than the pipe mine is stock. Any advice one what to do would be great. Also can I find the tuneboy anywhere in the states for less that $400? And is it worth the $400 for my one bike.
Thanks.

Tuneboy or not
I think the first thing is to check with your dealer and see what tune you have in the bike, to confirm that you have the right tune for your bike with the Triumph off road can (ToR) option. I'm being a little vague here about your tune... if you go to Tuneboy website, you can see all the Triumph standard tunes for the Daytona and they vary by chassis, other kit fitted such as Secondary Air Injection (SAI) and of course standard, high mount or ToR can.
So get the correct ToR tune loaded first and see if that feels better. Then if you want more, get the tuneboy and joint t595i.net and download one of the Massive Midrange series that a guy called Cerberus has developed.... it gets rid of the flatspot between 3-6k rpm and makes the bike fly. Be warned if you want to use this tune, it was developed on a bike without SAI, and if you have SAI you are best of searching this forum for the thread where folks have removed that kit, and doing it before installing the tune.
This will also give you a time period to watch out for a group buy being advertised as going on.... quite often this happens in the daytona 675 forum, and you can get quite a good discount on the software.
With a bit of luck DEcosse will also chime in at this point and add another level of understanding to mine!!!
Hope this helps

I believe there's a GB currently on triumph675.net - that has consistently been the best deal for this item & the medium through which I sourced mine.
The std offering has no capability to tune other than simply plugging in any of the std Triumph offerings (like the TOR tune rexxypup mentioned) which your dealer can do for you- even that offers little in addressing the fundamental issues with the stock tune. There is no ability by the dealer to customize any indigvidual elements of the tune tables with the Triumph GameBoy.
Also big two thumbs for the Massive tunes by Cerberus - 'right out of the box' any of these will offer a large improvement and be a good basis to tinker from. You will of course need Tuneboy to load & further trim these if required.
An often over-looked feature of the Tuneboy program is the diagnostic software - also a big plus.

DEcosse.....do you know if the install of a Trident Hi Mount will require a tune?. I have installed one during our winter months but have not been able to get out just yet.Once I run a bike with a different exhaust and find it runs poorly, will re installing the original exhaust cure again.?

Not to threadjack but I am on a tight budget and cannot afford a tuneboy, or even a pipe for that matter (dont like the noise either). I removed the baffle that is in the midpipe of my stock cannister and was wondering if a the dealer ToR map would be better than the standard one in my case.
The bike performs wonderfully except for the standard flat spot between 3 and 4.5k.
For my 02, I was thinking power commander at some point and to make my own changes to the zero map to clean up the flat spot. I had great success on my 01 Mille with the PC.

Yes, you will need a tune. You can use the TOR tune from the dealer.

You won't get rid of that flat spot with a TORS tune.
If you are comfortable with PC3 then by all means go for it - but there are much more features in Tuneboy and you don't have to hack your wiring to install it.

You don't have Secondary Air Injection on your bike. I looked at it last week to see if it did. Unfortunately my bike does have it so I will be looking at how to make it go away.
