Tech question

Had the tank off the '04 Daytona, noticed that no line on the side of the tank near the two fuel lines, its a regulator looking device held into the tank by a retaining ring.Should there be ?

tri955i, Nope. The FPR (fuel pressure regulator) is a carryover self adjusting unit from the '97-'01 T595/D955i that had the FPR connected to the airbox in the remote possibility that the ram air tubes actually pressurized the airbox. The '01NS-'06 D955i doesn't have the ram air tubes.

Thanx Brad........I know I did not take aline off this, but was slightly concerned that it may have been left off previously by someone else, nice to know that it's a non-issue.Makes me wonder though, why Triumph wouldn't have placed a blocked off cap held in by the same style retaining ring though. ( odd ?)

Thanks again.

I noticed the same thing. I asked the dealer about it. They echoed Bradtx and added. Do not plug or cover the fitting. Didnt ask why. Just went with it.

The port needs to be left open to atmospheric pressure for the fuel pressure regulator to work properly. The regulator uses that as a reference pressure for the piston that controls the fuel rail pressure.

On a ram air, turbo, or supercharged motor, you could connect that port to the air box to make your fuel pressure rises proportionally with the air box pressure, thereby adding the required extra fuel while under boost.
