Coil failure seems to have been a problem with the 1200. The shop where I bought my bikes has replaced two or three sets in the last year or so on high mileage bikes. I would be carefull about aftermarket or used parts and stick with your dealer. Once replaced, you should be good for a long time. I think there is an upgrade available through Triumph.

Go to the Trophy site. I think I read the 1200 takes two coils and the 900 takes three. It seems to be a common problem.

On Bikebandit the Daytona 1000 is actually the 1200. When the Daytona first came out it was a 1000 four and a 750 triple. Their parts list is correct for the 1200.
I've replaced my coils with ones from Nology, part #152 001 070T ProFire Ignition Coil Dual Outlet http://www.nology.com/profiremotor.html

shatty coils

ordered one today, and picked up the other, the bike only cuts out when its hot out side and ive been riding for about 30-45 minuter at 70 or 80mph. im pretty pissed at my haynes manual though the specs it listed are not the same as the alleged broken coils on the bike, i shot resistance through the new one and it is the same as the old ones. i really could still see these as being the problem though. i think the reading i get on a cold coil and the hot broken one will be two completely different things. man that haynes looks to be way off the mark, any one else experience this with a manual?????

coils all the way

every problem i have had with this bike seems to be fixed. it was all coil related for the past 3 months. i think it needs an oil change now. i hadnt driven it long enough to really break down the oil the engine want to stay revved up when i disengage the clutch, i picked up some oil but there is no place with a filter around opened on a sunday.shiiiiit.

Just back off the idle adjustment and see if that helps. My brother put new coils on his Trophy and gained some idle speed once it was actually firing fulltime on all four. I find when I start I usually up it a bit to hold 1100 and then have to back it down once it warms up.
