Top speed? How to look it up?

I see people with there S3's and other bikes recording top speed on the speedo. I own a 2002 daytona 955i is there a way that I can look at what mine is and I don't know about it or what's the deal? Let me guess they didn't put that on there until after my year.

A good question is why are you interested in the Top speed, unless you are trying to get to it. On my Tona, my speedo is about 10 mph shy of my true speed at 80 mph (speedo showing 70). I believe my bike is geared for 160, but it will probably never see that.

If you are looking for top spped recorded in your ECU I think this is available using one of the various diagnistic machines. Some feature USB connections to your PC and allow software to drill into the data stored in your ECU. You will find some good info here as a start:

I have had mine up to 160 on the speedo, she had a little more in her. I have no idea how far off my speedo is from actual speed. I dont need to know nor care if it is much faster.

If you are looking for bragging rights just get a Busa. Triumph isnt the bike to get into a speed pissing contest with.

Do want to know what it's geared for, or what it'll actually do? You can calculate the former using the primary, 6th gear, and final drive ratios, the tire circumference, and engine rpm. Mine worked out to be geared for approx. 191 mph at redline (11,500), but I know for sure it wouldn't do that even if you pushed it off a cliff. Now it's geared for approx. 172 @ 12,000 rpm. Hopefully I'll get to a track before I'm too old to see what it'll really do.

Almost all of these bikes will pull around 270Km plus or minus 10Km depending on the road, the conditions and probably rider size. (270Km = 165mph)

I know that my '06 will easily do the "old ton" in third with plenty of revs to spare. That makes it an insane bike in anyone's language.

You'd need a good, long road with little traffic and no cops to see the 270 unless you geared it down a touch 'coz it appears to take a while to wind out to the full speed (youtube).

Also, makes you wonder about why we'd need something quicker unless we were track daying the bike, or is it all about the latest thing?

Talking

171 indicated, but won't do that again. As far as I know you can not pull up your recorded top speed on the speedo.
